We have just returned from a fantastic break in Lisbon staying at Casa Amora. Casa Amora was perfect; our host Juan couldn't have been more helpful; nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were great too and Anita treated us to some lovely home made cooking. The room was excellent, very nicely decorated and equipped with everything we needed. The location was great too; close to an underground station and with a nice park near by. We would happily come back and recommend to friends and family.

I'll be honest, I am a regular user of TripAdvisor but I'm fairly lazy when it comes to writing reviews. But Casa Amora is truly something special. Juan, our incredibly helpful host welcomed us at the door and provided us with a thorough orientation to Lisbon along with maps, books, restaurant and tour suggestions. Juan was available by phone 24hrs a day, he was always on hand to ask about our plans and offer suggestions and he even made a local hangover cure for my wife. Unfortunately we had 4 rain soaked days in Lisbon and because of the weather we didn't see the city at its best. But because of Juan and the staff at Casa Amora, we will definitely be back.

We stayed in Casa Amora for four nights, and we are still in awe of this place! The welcome is warm and personal, the complete opposite of arriving at one of those huge hotels with hundreds of rooms. The duplex studio we stayed in felt like someone had lent us their very tastefully decorated private home, a real house in a real street in the centre of the city, with the metro station just two streets away, and next to a quiet little square. Both Juan and Anita the housekeeper are genuinely friendly and helpful. The breakfast is delicious and home-made, and the tips we got for sights and entertainment were very useful, especially the magical little fado house we went to on Juan's recommendation. If you want to experience some real Lisbon in absolute comfort, look no further!

This was the most brilliant place to stay, from the lovely walled tiny courtyard smelling of Jasmine that clambered up the walls, to the immaculate bedroom and bathroom, the welcome from Juan is great, he is informative and treats you as a guest in his house.
Quiet (apart from the occasional barking dog) and easy to get in to town on foot, or the underground station a 5 min walk away.
Get a taxi from the airport, four of us was E15. You might struggle to find it from the underground, although with a smart phone and GPS… but you have to carry your luggage up the hill!
Delicious breakfast, and Juan is helpful with suggestions for dinner. Four of us went and we had a little 'flat' across the courtyard at the back with two double rooms.
