“Great Location in the heart of Lisbon”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

Stayed for 5 nights. Very clean modern rooms. The beds are comfortable, bathroom was spacious and well equipped. The location was the best part no need for a car. Easy access from airport bus stop, train stations, and metro. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is |I really missed a breakfast. Even if they were able to make a deal of sorts with pastry place up the street, it would make this perfect. I would definitely stay again.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your nice comment.
We have thought a lot about the breakfast issue. As travelers, we are very demanding in regard to the breakfast and we find it very hard to get a really excellent breakfast even in 4 or 5 star hotels. On the other hand, Chiado is very well served with great coffee shops for different tastes, so we decided to leave it out and offer a better price. For rainy winter nights, we do have the option of breakfast served in the room, on demand.
Would love to give you a few personal hints if you come back one day.
Marta

We visited Lisbon for 4 days and stayed at hall chiado. It was our first city trip as a family as we took our little boy of 6 months with us. Hall chiado organised everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We even got a microwave on our room to heat up bottles. The room was clean, spacious and had a wonderful bathroom. Hall chiado is located in the centre and offers easy access to every part of the city. For dinner, I would recommend "Andaluz" which is located about 20meters down the road from Hall chiado. Beautiful tapas!
The girls from Hall chiado are lovely and run a little shop as well. You can ask them for anything and they are happy to help you. The shop has some really cute things. I got myself some bracelets for a price that made me very happy:-)
All together, if we would ever return to Lisbon, we would definately stay at Hall chiado again.

Dear Guest,
It makes me really happy to know that you had a good time in Lisbon and Hall Chiado. I know, by personal experience (...), that it not always easy to travel with small babies so we do our best to offer the maximum possible comfort to our family guests. By the way, Meson Andaluz is also one of our personal favorites!
All the best,
Marta

We stayed 2 nights in Hall Chiado Residences and were very impressed with what we got. The room was spacious, clean, the furniture was new and the decor was the best of all. The location is fantastic near Cais do Sodre and a short walk to Bairro Alto. The only downside was lack of receptionist - which I suppose is why it's cheaper - but it didn't make a difference to us. We will definitely stay again.

Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for your kind words.
You are right, we don't have a "receptionist" as such, but me, Marta and Sara, one of us is always at the office on the ground floor during daytime (also at weekends) and are glad to be of any assistance.
Looking forward to have you back some day.

Hall Chiado is a well-maintained establishment. My apartment had a main bedroom and a further childrens room with bunk beds. The shower room was large and stylishly fitted. The kitchenette had all the necessary equipment and marble surfaces. No wardrobes and no easy chair however. The air-conditioning was simply to operate and effective.

My room (2) was at the back of the building and had no natural daylight because it was so close to adjoining buildings. You could not see the sky and would need lights on at any time of day so I’d opt for a street-facing room if I stayed again. As the room was also very quiet it made me feel strangely cut off from the outside world.

The provision of secure storage for luggage post-checkout was much appreciated.

The location is excellent for a tourist wanting to see all the sights. It’s a short walk from Cais do Sodre which offers Metro, Tram, Train, Ferry and Airport bus access. There were two branches of Pingo Doce supermarket nearby for groceries, and lots of cafes and restaurants.
In all, this is a well-run place to stay which I would recommend and which I would certainly go to again.

Room Tip: Personally I would choose street-facing if possible next time!

Dear Guest,
I appreciate your comments.
Room number 2 in fact has less natural light than other rooms. Some guests find it very nice because it is so quiet. As it is a family room we thought it would work best facing the back of the building. If you come back one day, please let us know so we can make sure you get a street facing room.
The lockers room for guests arriving early or leaving late, to leave their luggage, is an innovation that we introduced as a reaction to customer feedback and I can tell it is really useful by the occupancy rate that we observe!
Best regards,
Leonor

Great location for all of Lisbon! Really nice and clean with almost everything you would need in a room. Would be even better if you had 2 glasses in the double room (only had one in the bathroom) and 5/5 if you had a little fridge!

Dear Guest,
Thank you for the suggestion! In fact we only have one glass in each bathroom but we have discussed this now and we agree with you. We will do the change next week - two glasses per room at Hall Chiado from now on!
Cheers,
Marta

We stayed at Hall Chiado during August 24-27. It was fantastic. You can't ask for a better location. Walking distant to the restaurants and bars of barrio alto, caiste de sodre, also the tram stop is close, as well as the metro line. We went to the beach in Cascais which is accessed by a 30 minute train ride, the station is a 5 minute walk down the hill from the hotel.
The rooms are spotlessly clean, although minimal in decor. We encountered a slight problem with our bathroom which was our fault but the staff sorted the problem out within an hour.
Hall Chiado feels like staying in your own private apartment in the centre of Lisbon.
Upon entering the foyer, each day complimentary water bottles are made available to guests staying at hotel. A nice touch in the summer days. We will definitely stay again.

Dear Guest,
You are being kind, it took us a bit more than one hour to solve the problem... but you were very patient, thank you for that and I apologize for the inconvenience.
You know, we took the "opportunity" to improve the signaling in the bathroom, I believe it will prevent any problem in the future.
Best regards,
Marta

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights and we would have stayed longer if it were not for the fact that we were moving on to Costa da Caparica. The location is great - only a few minutes downhill to Praça Cais de Sodre where you can get trains, taxis and buses as well as the tourist sightseeing buses. It is also only a few minutes uphill to Chiado and then a little further to Alto.

The room that we stayed in was number 3 - it faced to the rear and didn't have a view but it was quiet, just as I requested. It was modern/simplistic in design and decor and very clean. The bed was comfortable too. The staff are housed in an office next door to the hotel entrance and they are very helpful if you have any questions. The reason for giving 4/5 for service is because, well, there really is no need for their service unless you have questions. The only time we spoke to the staff was to receive a door key and ask for a taxi to be ordered when we left.

Our reason for giving 4/5 for value is only because there is no breakfast included. For the same price, you could probably get a hotel with breakfast.

A nice touch was the complimentary bottles of water that are left in the entrance hallway for guests to help themselves. The recommendation of a café called Quinoa for breakfast/lunch was spot on and became our daily favourite.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your extensive comment.
Hall Chiado has a service concept that is meant to be a bit "invisible" in the sense that we don't want to bother or hassle our guests, allowing for total freedom and privacy but, at the same time, make sure we are there if needed, giving a very personalized and warm response.
Regarding the lack of breakfast, as a small guest house, it would be difficult for us to have a good enough offer and there are a lot of options in the neighborhood that are really great and well priced (Quinoa is one of our favorites!).
Best regards,
Marta
