“A hidden treasure”
Reviewed 21 September 2013

The restaurant is located in a street, hidden in the madragoa area... But what a place!

We went there for our last meal in Lisbon. And it was great! More typical Portuguese restaurant than the other restaurants that we tried but definitely Worth a try!

I had there my first Bacalhau a Bras and i loved it!!!! Was so nice and a huge portion!

Service was great!

“Simple but wonderful!”
Reviewed 24 April 2013

This little place is hard to find but worth the effort. When you go in, it all seems very basic and can be lacking in atmosphere. The genuinely warm and friendly service provided by the owner makes up for this though. Everything is very old school, a menu written by hand and the owner gives his recommendations depending on whether you want meat or fish. We were given cheese, olives and chorizo to start with some bread ... all were delicious. Then we both shared salmon and squid for main which came with potatoes, a yummy salad and some dressing. It was all very simple but really tasty and fresh! We were then offered the famous cherry brandy which he had made from cherries from his own garden. After our meal, he came and showed us photos of his farm where all of the produce had come from to make our meal (apart form the fish of course). It was a lovely personal touch and at no point were we made to feel like 'yet another tourist', unlike some of the city joints offering the Fados/dinner packages. It was also very reasonable at 30 euros total for two of us to have a three course meal, numerous beers, brandy.
