If you like Fado then you couldnt wish for a better location, right above a restaurant which has live Fado on the terrace every night till midnight. Sitting with the window open and a glass of port listening to the music was awesome! During the day it was very quiet. The place is small but bright and clean. Agree that the stairs are narrow and steep. Anyone who reads up on Alfama before the holiday will know that it is a medieval area, a labyrinth of narrow, twisting lanes which general traffic can't enter. However it is only a 5 minute walk from the main street. And I must say that my experience of Lisbon Holidays was very good, we arrived an hour early and the maid was still cleaning but we left our luggage there and went to lunch. I wasnt bothered that there wasnt a kettle, just used a pan. The kitchen is well equipped for a short stay. Good tv and satellite channels, wifi worked perfectly. I definitely recommend for people who can carry their suitcase up the short stairs. And the cost is excellent!
