We fell upon this wonderful little restaurant purely by chance on our first evening in Lisbon. What a find. We had no idea about what was on offer as the waiter spoke virtually no English. The translation of the printed menu wasn't really very helpful. However this is the place to go for good home cooked food. The seating arrangements involves sitting at long tables with other people, but that isn't a problem. In fact it makes for a congenial atmosphere. By 7:45 there were several locals inside both eating and just drinking. The doors were then locked and it became clear they had closed for the evening. The bill was ridiculously cheap. We were delighted to find this place.
However on our last day we thought we'd go back and have lunch. We were presented with a very different scenario. It was full to capacity with locals having their lunch. We stood no chance of getting a table.
This little restaurant is easy to find behind the arch off one of the main squares.
