“Just Perfect!”
Reviewed 24 August 2014

Stayed here for 5 nights last week and from beginning to end it was fabulous. Where do I begin? Rooms are immaculately clean, full of the latest technology ie nespresso machine, blue tooth surround system, electric blinds and curtains, complimentary chocolates and water every evening and noise free. Next the bars, service was excellent, everything modern and chairs, loungers were lovely. The food? We are every morning, evening and night on four of the days because it was excellent. The breakfast was unreal and I have raved about previous breakfasts in many 5 stars before but this surpassed them all. Food in the scala bar and upscala roof top bar were top class. The pools and treatment rooms were beautiful, roof pool was very busy. We got the hotel car and went on a day trip to Fatima which was 1 hour and 15 mins away, it was a great day and the chauffeur was just like our own personal tour guide. We found the prices very reasonable especially with the excellent wines and ports. Overall we will definitely be going back, with this hotel there is no need to go outside the door! Loved it.

Great hotel with an excellent modern feel. The pool area is great but busy as a result. Rooms are super tech heavy and cool if you like that and very comfortable with some nice treats for the guests. Not in the centre but very close and only a few euro cab. At times felt like Miami

This hotel is shiny and new, and feels like it belongs in Asia rather than Europe when you enter the lobby. Great buffet breakfast. Spacious modern rooms. Really nice fitness centre with a good indoor swimming pool, that was empty most of the time.

Wonderful hotel! Spotlessly clean, great facilities, helpful staff, delicious (if pricey) food with friendly service. Rooms are large and well equipped, though I would say if you're not a couple and sharing a room, then be aware that the bathroom area does not have a door! The shower and toilet doors are frosted glass but there's not a lot of privacy! Soundproofing is excellent...you can't hear road or aeroplane noise at all.
The only drawback of the hotel is that it's out of the main tourist area. However, it's only a 10 minute walk down the hill. Or there are plenty of buses into the city centre (public transport is very good) The hotel is located only 3 minutes walk from a shopping centre and supermarket too.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the road and a small park. It was quiet, so no need to worry about the noi...

Such a nice hotel, beautiful design, comfy beds, high tech all the way, service is really good and food was nice.
The only down was that on our arrival the rom wasn't ready, even though we check in at 8pm!!! Not OK for a 5* hotel.
Location is not the best if you are a tourist, but it's understandable that such a big and modern hotel is not possible in the middle of the old town.

This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at in many years of worldwide travelling. The rooms were very comfortable and large. Unlike most hotels, who try to create a restful atmosphere by having lighting so dim you can hardly see yourself in the mirror, this one has bright, modern and flexible lighting. The staff were extremely helpful and professional throughout and the team who ran the breakfast service were simply the best we have ever seen. The breakfast itself was of the highest quality and there was superb range.

It is located about 20 min walk from the main city centre and the Bairro Alto and this is the best way of getting around as the nearest metro station is more than 10 min away on foot. The overall cost of the stay including breakfast was good value but the pricing of drinks in the bar was clearly a disincentive as it was almost empty most of the time. Something for the management to perhaps consider? 0% customers x 300% margin = zero income.

Would definitely come back to this hotel.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the front of the hotel.

The plus:

Great brakefast served in the hotel's restaurant with an huge variety of options (breads, cakes, warm food, yougurts, waffles, cheeses, etc, etc). Although it was always packed, the food never ran out. The room is pretty good, specially the huge double bed, bathroom, coffee/tea machine, ironing, mini bar. Being the hotel full, we barely heard any noise. Great soundproof. The staff is very friendly, young and helpful. Wifi very strong (2nd floor, at least).

The less:

The pool area is tiny for 300+ rooms. It only has around 20 bedpools (8 with shadows), the room service is a bit expensive, the hotel decoration is not that fancy so is the sofa in the room and the mirror-like tv reflects all natural and artificial lights. The location can be painful due to its location uphill (coming from Marques de Pombal) but is very near to a shopping center.

Room Tip: The last floor rooms can be noisy because of the pool/bar. The wifi on the 2nd floor is flawless.
