As well as the cemetry, don't forget the church itself. It is a beautiful church with so much history! You can get an book of the history just inside, which goes back over 250 years!
Also there is a service every Sunday at 11:30am and Thursdays at 12:30. It is a close nick community who are so welcoming! All are welcome to join the services... usually with welcomed arms.

Thank Carly B

Whenever we travel we check to see if there is a Commonwealth War Cemetery so we can pay our respects..... and surprisingly there was a small plot in Lisbon within this larger cemetery.

The Cemetery is inside a walled compound with a locked gate - which supposedly opens at 9am (9.40 when we visited !) but the wait was worth it. This is what an old Cemetery should be - packed with memorials and headstones to the great and the good of ages past.- many British seamen lost in the age when the Royal Navy dominated the seas. The "star" grave is that of Henry Fielding (22 April 1707 – 8 October 1754) was an English novelist and dramatist known for rich earthy humour and satirical prowess, and the author of the novel Tom Jones.

There is a small Commonwealth War Graves plot with the graves of downed aircrew and the large headstone commemorating the Naval Attache who drowned with 4 other officers when their car drove off a Jetty in 1950.

We had a lovely couple of hours wandering around the cemetery - very interesting place.
