New hotel, very nicely renovated!!! Wine bar offers a gorgeous view!
-In the evening, the offer 'finger food', not a lot of choices. The breakfast is very nice, a buffet of breads, cereals, fruit, yogurts, juice,... You can also ask for a cooked egg.
-The location is pretty nice, close to the St george Castle (10 min by foot)!
-However, be aware of the fact that only 1 taxi out of the 10 i took the week i stayed knew the hotel's location! Taxi drivers don't all talk english, so it's better to print a plan!!
-Not a lot of nice restaurants in the area of the hotel, only one worth recommending, the italian restaurant behind the Se Cathedral!
-staff is pretty nice and helpful, although it is obvious they are quite new and don"t always know what to answer.
All in all a very good experience staying there!

Room Tip: Rooms at the end of the building have poor internet connexion!!

Great views from the wine bar. This hotel is below St George castle in Alfama old town with narrow cobblestone streets, the hotel is on a dead end street. Rooms with terraces overlook the river and are worth the added charge. Nice base to explore Lisbon

Room Tip: Try to get terrace room or one with view of the river

The hotel though barely two months old is excellent. The Staff extremely courteous. The view from the hotel is outstanding .. overlooking the river as cruise ships come n go. The rooms however are compact n could have been larger by a couple of feet. We had read that the river facing rooms are the best. However, we stayed in one of the poolside rooms on the 1st floor, three of which also have a small sit out area where you could spend you morning having breakfast or a drink in the evening enjoying the fabulous view. This part of Lisbon is well connected by Tram and bus which is barely about 8 mns from the Town centre 15-20 mn walk mostly down hill. There are excellent cafes/restaurants like Cafe Pois and an italian place next to hotel which is located behind the Se' cathedral. The property is about 50 meters off the main road where the bus n tram stops are making it very convenient. the hotel provides you with the 1or 3 days passs. The breakfast has a good spread. They don't serve Lunch/dinner. But then if you feel like a sandwich one of those lazy evening u could order it from the bar by the pool for ur dinner. The bar snacks are a bit restrictive though n they could have had a better spread. Overall I would give the hotel an excellent rating.

This hotels is very difficult to locate! Room is small, breakfast is basic! The only good thing is the amazing view from the terrace.
I recommend people to go and have a drink in the wine bar and enjoy the view! The rest is pretty basic and crap! I will not return.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your review.
I'm glad you liked our views over Alfama and the river. They are in fact one of the best in town!
Memmo Alfama has a typical location of a boutique hotel in the Old Town, full of narrow streets, alleys and stairways. Alfama is the most visited neighborhood in Lisbon precisely because of those characteristics and charm.
The hotel concept is to be integrated in the spirit of Alfama and that is, on our point of view, its most important value for guests who want a real experience of the city on a comfortable and homely ambiance.
Since the hotel has opened recently we are perfectly aware there are some details to improve and we are doing that everyday.
We have several room types, each one with different areas and views and if one wants the best view and areas I would recomend the Alfama Superior ones.
Regarding the breakfast, we offer a small but complete buffet with high quality products complemented by a "a la carte" menu of hot dishes free of charge. Even so we are preparing some new things and products.
In conclusion, if one prefers large hotels located in the main avenues of Lisbon, our hotel should not be chosen. If one prefers to stay in the authentic and genuine part of the city, then Memmo Alfama is one of the best options.
Best regards.

This is a new hotel - just about two months old and doing very well. The reason is simple - it is a very charming hotel in the Alfama neighbourhood. Their staff are fantastic and always smiling/welcoming. Rita was a great help especially. This is a off beat hotel - does not have a classic reception, does not have large rooms for food etc. But that is what I most like about this place - it is like a really large cool home! We were in the terrace room overlooking Rio Tejo. Fabulous views and great to have breakfast while watching the sun rise or a drink watching the sun set. This is a design inspired hotel so all is white and minimalistic. The tram 28 is just on the main road outside and all sights and sounds are ten minutes away. Fabulous location. Three things could be better - the wine bar could serve some more substantial tapas (choice is limited and is finger food), they should have a tea/coffee in the rooms or common area and the rooms could be a shade bigger (guess this can't change much!).
Great stay. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Alfama rooms have the most fabulous view. We though preferred the terrace room as it has an option t...
