Hotel is located very centrally, near Marques de Tombal, near to metro station. Hotel was a sort of luxury hotel but the price was very low. There is always someone who can speak english (opposite of Spain). Breakfast was very good and delightful

Nice location and very close to the metro. It is about 10 minutes on the metro to where the action is happening or 20 minute walk. Clean place and nice staff. The room we stayed in was spacious.....double bed and single bed (enough for three people easily).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony

The hotel is totally renovated and when they did they invested in the important things: a good bed, good shower and a strong and almost silent (!) airconditioning. The room we had was large (but there are smaller rooms so it depends). The breakfast is good, with different sorts of bread, cereal, scrambled eggs, good orange juice etc.. I preferred the shutters over curtains that never seem to close completely in hotels. What you will not find here, is a room with a view (unless you are incredibly lucky with one of the few rooms at the front). At best you get to see a little bit of blue sky over the rooftops, on lower floors you could end up with a blind wall. But: in a city like Lissabon you should go outside for the view. And it is perfectly located for that, literally around the corner from metrostation Marques de Pombal. It brings you to the old centre, restaurants, bars and busses and trams in an instant until 1 AM. As for the negative points mentioned in other reviews: yes the bar closes early, there is only one tiny bin in the bathroom, loud music in the elevator and no parking. If you are a tourist, like we were, and out to explore Lissabon, those are minor details and the other points (room space, beds, free wifi and close to the metro) much more important. I would recommend this hotel for a city trip any time, you get a lot for less than 100 euros (we paid 70 a night, it depends on time of stay and time of booking). If you are on a business trip and need to spend a lot of evenings in the hotel, another hotel might suit better.

I stayed for 4 nights in the hotel which is now called The Astoria Evidencia Hotel.

The plus points

Nice clean rooms
Free Wifi in the hotel.
Breakfast more than adequate.
Free computers in hotel.
Good central loaction and close to the metro although we had a car.

Negatives

No bar or drinks of any description after 9pm which seemed very strange.
No drawers for clothes in the bedroom.
No curtains, rather sliding doors which were sort of 'shutter style'.
Less than friendly front of house staff.
No parking and carparking is very expensive in Lisbon.

All in all

It did the job for a buisness trip and was clean enough but it just didn't feel welcoming or accommodating.

I shan't be going back.

The hotel is within walking distance of most Lisbon attractions and has a busstop in front of the door and a metro station very nearby (at the Marques do Pombal Square)
Hotel is being completely renewed and the rooms are very modern and spacious
Breakfast was good (but you had to ask the staff to fill the plates....)
Staff was very kind and helpfull
Given the fact that also the price was very correct, I would most probably stay in the same hotel again if I would return to Lisbon
