The hotel is located near one of the main streets in Lisbon and also about 20 min walk from downtown Lisbon (it's a nice walk).

When you arrive at the hotel, you'll probably be impressed by the lobby design which is beautiful.
The room has decent size (bigger than many other rooms in centre Europe).
There's no bath, only shower and the hotel doesn't provide anything else besides one soap (no shampoo, creams and etc). Moreover I was asking for extra towel and never got that, even though I called twice to reception.

The biggest disappointment was with breakfast that besides a big variety of breads was very poor- basics only and maybe less. Also the food area is so small comparing to the size of the sitting area so you get long queue of people. They charge 10euros for it which you can eat big meal outside of the hotel for this amount of me. Save your money and skip it

There's a Free Wifi (per guests in the room, annoying!).
The hotel doesn't have parking but we easily found outside of it (you need to pay for it. Not on weekends).

Bottom line, the hotel is OK and if you are looking for a place to stay in Lisbon you should give it a try. Since Lisbon is so beautiful you won't be spending so much time at the hotel so after setting your expectations regarding breakfast and some other small things that I've mentioned above, it will be worth the money you spent on it.

Mr. ido8all,

Good afternoon.
First of all thank you for choosing our Hotel and thank you for spending some time writing your review.
We listen and give our most atention to all comments made by guests in order to make better everyday.
Regarding amenities in the room it's a normal standard, we have that product that you found that is good for body and hair. You can also find some other amenities at the reception.
Regarding the breakfast, let me just inform you that the breakfast is complimentary, there is no charge. It's a continental buffet breakfast, and the space issue is eing solved.

This is a beautifully converted, modern boutique hotel which has maintained the traditional exterior. The location is excellent, close to buses and metro and walking distance to the city centre and parks. The whole interior of the hotel is lovely but unfortunately the stay was let down by bad customer service from the front desk staff & housekeeping. I have stayed at many Holiday Inn Express hotels around the world but have never received such bad customer service as I did at this hotel. I am an IHG Platinum Elite member but was not treated as one at this hotel. We had two separate stays booked at this hotel, one for 4 nights at the end of July. We then left Lisbon to tour the Algarve for 10 days and returned to the Holiday Inn Express for our second stay of 3 nights before flying home to the US. The first stay wasn't too bad, apart from housekeeping not removing used cups from our room. The day we checked out there were 12 dirty cups in our room! They also never replenished the tea bags, coffee & cream sachets so the kettle was virtually useless. The second stay was where the problems really began. We arrived back from the Algarve hot and tired after a long drive and tried to check into the hotel for the 3 nights that we had booked some weeks earlier and that the hotel had confirmed with us, both by e-mail and personally at the front desk as we checked out from the first stay. When we tried to check in for the second stay we were informed that we had no 3-night double bed reservation. They said the only reservation they had for us was a 1 night twin room. There were 5 staff at the front desk, all totally unconcerned about this and insisting that we had no 3-night reservation. They were rude & unhelpful and just stood around leaning on the counter. We asked to speak to a manager and were told there was no
manager on duty. We were very upset and went out of the hotel to return our rental car and asked that they would please have it sorted out by the time we returned 45 minutes later. When we returned there was only one staff member at the front desk who curtly informed us that they had a room for our 3 night stay and thrust the key at us with no apology. The room we were given was OK except that the lid of the toilet would not stay up without being held, which became difficult to actually use the toilet. The glass shower door was jammed & opened the wrong way and it was very difficult to get in & out of the shower (we had to try & squeeze in & out around the back of the toilet and it is lucky we are not large people as it would have been impossible to get into the shower at all). On the second night, as we pulled back the sheet to get into the bed, there was a crawling insect and an ant in the bed. The breakfast room was very nice and provided a free, reasonably good buffet breakfast. However, the orange juice was watered down so much it tasted like flavored water. Another problem was the battle to get an ice bucket for the room so that we could get ice from the vending machine in the hotel lobby. We had to ask the front desk staff for the ice bucket, but on several occasions were told they were all in use and there was none available. What IHG hotel has no ice bucket as a standard in the room? This is a really nice hotel, in a good location, let down by untrained staff. We did finally get to discuss these issues with the general mgr., who apologized for our problems.
This could be a really great HIE, and, unless we were just really unlucky with our 2 stays, is being let down by untrained, or uncaring staff.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on Av Liberdade for 7 nights in July as a family of 3 (2 adults and a 13-year old). The hotel is very new and is clean and modern with good sized rooms and very comfortable beds - even the sofa bed that our son slept on was firm and comfortable.
The reception staff were great - very friendly and helpful and provided good recommendations for restaurants. Check-in was quick and easy and although there is no official bar, the reception staff were very happy to provide beers and spirits from the front desk at very reasonable prices.
Breakfast was continental style with a choice of cereals, breads, fruit, yogurts, cold meats & cheeses; certainly more than enough to start the day in good form.
The location of the hotel is excellent - it is about 5 minutes walk to the nearest metro station and maybe 15-20 minutes walk to the centre of town. There are a few decent bars and restaurants within 10 minutes walk of the hotel, though you may need to ask where to find them :-).
My only complaint, and this was a very minor issue, was that the milk for the tea in our bedroom was never replaced after we used it on the first day, but this was not really a problem as I just went down to the breakfast room each morning and brought some fresh milk up in a glass.
This was my first stay in a Holiday Inn Express and I thought overall it was a great hotel, and well worth considering for anyone planning a short stay in Lisbon.

Room Tip: We were on the 5th floor which was very quiet with no noise from other rooms. Lifts were very quick...

This is an excellent hotel. Its new - built December 2013 I believe. Its chic and spotless. The location is fantastic. The staff are wonderful especially the two guys at reception. We had a small, minor issue with our room and they comped us a free night. The breakfast is good - definitely enough to start you off. I'd definitely stay here again. Its a gem!!

Room Tip: Rooms are a bit on the small side but if you choose a room that has a sofa bed, you can sleep 3.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. The receptionists were very professional and helpful. The airline had misplaced our luggage and the receptionists helped us call the airline. Breakfast was delicious and well organized. Rooms were modern and very clean. The beds were comfortable. My only complaint is that the sound proofing is quite poor because it is an old building despite the major renovations that have been made. We could hear the neighbours talking loudly
into the night. Despite this minor blip, I would gladly stay at this hotel again and would recommend it.
