Awesome location. Expensive, but worth every penny. Can't wait to go back.

This hotel has a great location, but is otherwise underwhelming on several fronts, particularly if you have stayed in other boutique hotels and have an idea of what a good boutique hotel offers.

The lobby is plain to the point of looking neglected and though the staff are polite enough, our first reaction was of surprise (despite being bare, it didn't rate as minimalist!). And then everything about the hotel is small and narrow - the lift, the lobbies, the room (down to the TV being small) and the much talked about roof terrace. We enjoyed an after dinner drink there in the evening, but late afternoon when it was more busy, we were dismissed pretty indifferently and so went to find the bar, which was empty, but hot and stuffy.

Bottom line, this isn't a 5 star hotel. For that, it needs to make people feel more comfortable by a long way!

It's the most romantic hotel in LIsbon. On the best location. With the best design. Big and very confortable rooms. Small bathrooms. The breakfast was not so good, as the space is minimun. We had to wait to be seated. The waiters was stressed. There's not a lobby but a Mezzanine Bar. So it's the room, and nothing more. The Terrace was a beautiful view over Lisbon and the river.

There are some very positive things about the Barrio Alto: great location for exploring the old town, a superior front desk staff who really seem to enjoy being of help in whatever way needed, and clean, comfortable rooms. That said, I was surprised that this property did not, in my opinion, live up to the 5 star rating given by so many T A reviewers. My husband & I thought it was very overpriced and we do enjoy staying at 5 star properties. The elevators are small and tacky. The hallways are dark, and the rooms, although comfortable are nothing special, although maybe they are large by Lisbon standards? We tried the rooftop terrace bar our first night. Fabulous views over the river, but extremely slow service due to being understaffed. We waited almost 20 minutes for 2 glasses of wine. Then we went down to the restaurant. Impeccable service, but only average food and very high prices. Altough, the breakfast, which is included in the price is quite good with a variety of hot and cold offerings and excellent coffee. Would we stay again? Maybe, due to the great location, but I would definitely check out other properties in the area first.

Bang in the heart of Lisbon, this fairly small luxury hotel has two things that stand out: remarkably helpful staff (some of the best I have encountered anywhere) and a gorgeous rooftop terrace with a view over the water, ideal for a drink as the sun sets. The rooms themselves are modern and quite good, though with rather poor bathrooms in my view e.g. a feeble shower, an odd hand basin and not enough shelf space.

We stayed five nights here at the beginning of September and had a fabulous time. If you plan to visit Lisbon this is the place to stay. The hotel is relatively small with about 50 rooms. Our room was quite large by European standards and had all the modern amenities.

The service is excellent. The staff is very helpful and the hotel even has nightly turn-down service, which I love. The rooftop bar is a great place to relax and have a drink after a busy day of sightseeing. The location is perfect. Right in the heart of Barrio Alto and easy walking distance to sites in the area. The Tram #28 which takes you to many of the tourist sites stops right outside the hotel. The Metro is only a block away.

We had dinner one night at the hotel and it was excellent. You will not be disappointed if you stay here!!!

We originally selected the Hotel for its location close to restaurents and attractions (other choice was Four Seasons which we thought may be too far away), but we were more than awarded with beautiful rooms, a magnificant roof top bar/lounge, and fantastic service. We had the hotel car pick us up, which was very convenient and reasonable. Our rooms (2 adjacent rooms forming a suite with an adjoining hallway) was modern and well appointed. The braekfast was deicious with great coffee (we asked for multiple Lattes without being charged extras).

The location was supreb with a number of restaurents nearby. We were apprehensive about noise, but it was never a probelm.

We were specially impressed with friendliness and knowledge of concierge, who sent us to many good restaurents around and gave us invaluable advise of getting to Sintra and other attractions.
