The Alcobia is wery well situated right at the centre o Lisbon in the Alfama neighbourhood where one can feel the atmosphere of being close to St George´s castle and the old Commerce Square. The room was clean and the breakfast is well served. I would recommend it to young people, couples and families without children.

Perfect location, right at the heart of the city. I cannot fault this hotel in anyway.
We got the Aerobus from the airport 3.50euros. Runs every 20mins. Get off at Rossio square, and it's only a 5min walk, east, across Praca da Figueira, and your at the hotel.
The return journey, it's back to Rossio Sq and get on the bus at the other bus stop..simple!
The hotel is perfect for a city break. The rooms are clean, the A/C works a treat. Breakfast is served on the 1st floor (between 7.30-10am). Loads of choice (cereals, waffles, cakes, meats, cheeses etc..). Rooms cleaned every day.
There is a luggage room, to leave your cases on your final day.
There is so much to do and see in Lisbon. One highlight is Belem. Get the tram No15, from the stop just round the corner to the hotel. Purchase your ticket from the machine on board (1.45euros). It gives you change if you need it.
The Lisbon people love their cakes, and THE best place to get them is Casa Brasileira on Rua Augusta (3mins away). So good & so cheap!
We ate twice at Ena Pai! on Rua dos Correeiros (about 5mins away). Very good price for excellent food (7euros for a main meal).
We've been on a few city breaks & this hotel is probably the best we've stayed in. For price (66euros per room per night). For food & comfort.

I would have rated this hotel better if not for a couple key things. Yes, the room was basic but clean and affordable. We stayed two nights and unfortunately one morning we had cool showers and the next morning it was cold. Our original room was right next to the stairs and the mini elevator. If you didn’t close the gate on the elevator, it would beep loudly. All night we heard every step all guests took, their conversations and the beeping of the elevator. It was terrible. I did ask the receptionist if we could move after the first night and she willingly obliged. The breakfast was pretty basic, especially as I’m not personally into the whole cold cuts and cheese thing for breakfast. Finally, it was a little disappointing that they didn't have free wireless or wireless at all. If you wanted to use the internet, you had to pay to use their computer in the lobby right next to the "bar." Overall, the stay was ok, the price was good and the location was excellent. If I would go again, I would definitely ask for a room away from the stairs and the elevator.

Picked this place for its price and location, and was not disappointed. Rooms are quite simple and basic, great hot shower/water pressure, pillows in closet were appreciated. Good selections for breakfast. The person working the desk was wonderful. She helped us understand the sites and layout of the area and arranged a tour guide for us, which worked beautifully. There's a small market around the corner for snacks/drinks and the town square is a few minutes away by foot. Felt very safe.

We stayed here for a long weekend Nov '09 and were very happy. For the price, it's very hard to beat. The rooms are small. Our bed was reasonably comfortable, the tv worked, the individual heater/air con unit was a nice touch and the shower was very good. Breakfast was basic but adequate. Staff in general very pleasant. The location was fabulous. One block away from Rossio metro stop and a lively square. Reasonable walking distance to the Barrio Alto bars and restaurants, the nooks and crannies of Alfama and the shopping of Baixa. Tram to Belem right around the corner, castle right up the hill. As an aside, if there is bad food in Lisbon, we couldn't find it. From the most modest family cafe to a moderately upscale lunch, everyting was fresh and well prepared.
