Our hotel recommended this hotel because they served typical Portugal dishes. The restaurants diners were a mixture of tourists and locals. Some of the diners seemed to be regulars as they knew the waiters. The restaurant was busy and the table we were given was next to the bar and asked to be changed because water from the bar was dripping from the bar. The second table was near the area where waiters went in and out with food, and in front of refrigerators with wine. We asked to change again. There was no difficulty in changing tables, the staff was receptive to changing the tables. The wait staff was friendly, attentive, and answered any questions we had. Not being familiar with some of the dishes we asked for recommendations. Their recommendations were for more typical dishes. The wine they recommended was excellent. I had sea soup and enjoyed it while my friend had a different appetizer that she enjoyed. The waiter recommended Seafood Cataplana with rice for 2. The dish included shell fish, claims and mussels (very large mussels), sardines, and cod in a stew. The dish was tasty but it was for 3 or 4 not 2. It was a very large dish well worth the money but we could not finish the meal. If we had not had appetizers maybe we could have finished the stew. We did not have desert, no room. The restaurant is moderately priced. It was an enjoyable dinner and if return to Lisbon would return to the restaurant.

If you go to Lisbon and want to enjoy a Portuguese meal with regular prices, this is one of the best. Try the Bacalhau a Lagareiro and the Polvo a Lagareiro. You are going to spend around 18 EUR (dish + glass of wine).

This place was recommended by our air bnb host. As soon as we walked by and looked in, we had to try it. It’s a smallish place with no waiting area which was okay as it was warm outside. We waited maybe 15 minutes for a table. We stared with the mushrooms as an appetizer followed by the seafood cataplana and mussels. We finished with a tawny port. Everything was excellent. The staff were very friendly and made sure we had a nice experience. I’d go again if I come back through the area.
