reading some of the critiques I must add that nothing on the table is 'free'. If you don't like the cheese, bread, olives, etc. ask them to take it away or else they will charge you. this is common practice in many countries and they will not be offended if you say 'no'. make sure you mentally tally what you order to avoid any extra charges. i give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt since they rarely write anything down. i personally think this is one of the best street restaurant in BAIXA (just don't get run-over by the passing taxi's). i had the roasted pork with chips and loved it. the squid was pretty darn good. if you want quiet, romantic, soothing...go someplace else.

We had not seen any reveiws, we just found it and liked the look and buzz of the area. There were 8 of us celebrating a 40th birthday. They were very accomadating. Although had I been the diners they 'moved' to seat us all together, not sure I would of been best pleased!

We sat down, and then came the water, the bread, the butter, the cheeses, ham & olives. 3 lots of each! We were so busy chatting and catching up, we just ate and talked. The waiter recommended the fish platters, to share so we agreed and carried chatting. We didn't look at the menu! The fish was excellent, although the bill was v.expensive at 45 euros a head with only a few beers. We all left having enjoyed it all, figuring, well thats the price of a good meal. No one wanted to be seen quibbling the bill!

In fairness we enjoyed the food and the buzz so much we returned the following night. This time we perused the menus and discovered the hourendous of all the bread and cheeses. One cheese alone was 6 euros, they had wheeled out 3 lots! Even the butter was a seperate charge. The extra's were about 90 euros!!!

We declined on night 2 and sent them all back, just sticking to bread and olive oil. Sadly when the bill arrived we had been over charged for a bottle of we never ordered, and starters, etc totalling 35Euros! It really left us wondering how true the bill had been the night before, and put a downer on a good meal. Beware, the food is good, but check your bill and the prices on the menu!!

Went to this restaurant as recommended in AA guide. It cost about £25 for a main course and a third of a bottle of wine. We did not order starters as they brought out lots of bits and pieces like olives, parma ham and cheese which ended up on your bill and they charge per person. The waiter as first seemed helpful but then we felt he was just trying to get rid of stuff. The food was not horrible but a bit greasy and expensive for what you got.

Loved it, wine and small plates on stools right in the middle of street! Very charming. Wines were reasonably priced and when we asked them to simply bring out recommendations, everything they suggested to us was reasonably priced and they did not take any opportunity to upsell us at all. Food a bit pricier than the wine (but that's perhaps what we get for trying to get a full dinner out of small tasting plates at a wine bar!). Really cute.

We had been spending a bit of time across the street at Alfia's Wine Bar, so we tried the restaurant and were very pleased. The comments about the active street are true but exaggerated. When had several appetizers as an afternoon snack, the sauteed clams were amazing.
