“Great bargain”
Reviewed 10 September 2013

We stayed here in one of the luxurious one bedroom two bathroom apartments and have no complaints. Very quiet. Great value for money. Great to use as a base for visiting central Portugal. You do need a car however and the fact the place had few facilities other than the accommodation and golf did not worry us.

I don't really know what to say about this place, the staff are very kind but the resort is basic, when you arive you are greeted with a rusty sign, there is not much on the site, in the main area there is bike hire, a restaurant, laundrette and a supermarket that does not sell anything!!, there is unfinished buildings all around, everything is to spread out and none of the facilitates are within walking distance, so you will have to take your car to the restaurant etc. The rooms are however very nice and spacious, you have your own pool for your section which is small but does for a swim, there is no mirrors in any of the bedrooms (which are small), we were told bath robes were provided, this is not the case.

We stayed here for 2 weeks within a family group of 15 people. We stayed in 3 two bed town houses which were equipped with every requirement. The kitchen especially nearly had more appliances than my own kitchen at home. Even though the resort was nearly full it felt very quiet. Some of the communal areas needed more gardening and pruning and it would have been nice to see the restaurants and bars busier but overall we really enjoyed our stay. A car is a definite requirement as it really is at least a 15 min drive to nearest shop/restaurants etc

Nice place. Wonderful architecture. Not enough services. Friends supermarket was closed when we stayed (June 2013). All places were empty. Empty restaurants, empty golf range, empty club house, empty children playground.

What a shame. Purpose built resort in a beautiful area... then economic crisis means that some villas are built and the rest of this huge area have been left. We saw about 10 people there..... if you were taking a family it would be a disaster as there is nothing to do. We couldn't even spot anywhere to eat. Also the doors at the front of the villas were all damaged by poor building materials. I think it would be a disgrace to advertise this as a golfing resort. You would be hard pushed to even find somewhere to eat and like others, the ghost town is the right description.

Went to Bom Sucesso on vacations for a week and oh boy was it a treat: the walled complex is immense and a work in progress (as others nearby) with a hotel not available yet and several plots of duplex villas fully equiped, each with their own "private" swimming pools. The villas are modern, spacious and most with view to a golf course of the surrounding hills. Unfortunately for me, the constant wind kept me mostly indoors but profiting from the home cinema graciously present or sunbathing on the balcony. The kitchen is also equipped with all utensils, from renowed foreign and Portuguese manufacturers (Vista Alegre, Bosch) making it a true marvellous experience. There is a lagoon nearby and many sightseeing opportunities, the main city center a mere 20mn drive away. Make this a definitive yes to relaxation and leisure!

We drove through this resort thinking it would be similar to the Marriott Praia Del Rey - what a shock, it seriously is deserted. Half built and unkept, like a ghost town, the security guard at the entrance leads you to believe its going to be something special - its really not somewhere you would want to spend a holiday. Hope they get the funds to finish to to its full potential and get the trade in.
