My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night in May 2014. We arrived from Lisbon by the bus (which you can't beat for just 7 euros!). By mistake, we didn't enter the village through the main entrance so we had an interesting time rolling our luggage up winding paths and staircases trying to find the pousada. Eventually we made it and were greeted by the very friendly Luis. He carried our luggage all the way to the room, all while telling up about the history of the castle. We were both amazed at the service! We stayed in a large beautiful room that overlooks the courtyard, with a King size bed. The room was clean and the bathroom was a great size.
We ate dinner at the restaurant, and while the service and wine was great, the food was over priced in our opinion. Was still a nice experience, if you make early reservations you can probably get a table beside the large windows. I would recommend eating there once during your stay. We were pleasantly surprised at the selection at the breakfast, which is included.
The town itself is charming and we enjoyed walking around it on top of the castle walls. Also explored a bit behind the castle. Definitely recommend staying here for at least one night during your trip!More
