We spent 4 nights at Hotel Real D'Obidos and would recommend it. The room was spacious and comfortable, service was good, and the breakfasts had good variety. Its reasonable price makes it a good choice. The fact that there is parking is significant if you are on a driving tour. The parking is limited, but there was always space when we got back from touring. As to the faux medeval decor, I guess that this is just a matter of taste. At any rate it did not spoil our enjoyment.
The hotel made a great base for touring. There are many places you can see on day trips from the hotel and Obidos itself had attractions and restaurants that you can easily walk to from the hotel. We had been a little nervous about committing to 4 nights in the same place, but in the end we were pleased that we had.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It has unique decor from ancient times and the staff were very friendly and spoke English. The breakfast was expansive and we left on our bikes with a hugh picnic lunch, which was delicious. A unique experience!

You might start your quest at hotel Real D' Obidos, next to the old city walls of, indeed, Obidos, Portugal. Come by bus cause parking space is scarce. This “medieval style” hotel is ornamented with numerous artifacts “made in China” during the past 20 years and the so called antique furniture are simply worn out wooden elements. Tissues can be found in the local Ikea altough you should add some dust yourself! The place breathes bad taste and lack of style and smells like moisture. The bathroom is an eclectic collection of second hand porcelain completed by a plastic curtain around the bath tub. The soils are in…pine wood. OK for the wannabe Knight, but then again just for 1 day! Conclusion: a worn out tasteless, fake, and way too expensive disaster.

This hotel has really positively surprised me!
The staff’s uniform is medieval, which is a very nice touch! Once you go down the corridors, the entire décor is also medieval, with fantastic armors and weapons, but all very tastefully done. The rooms are named after Portuguese Kings and Queens. The Key to the door is massive, much like the ancient keys! There is also a Massage Service that you need to book with about 1 ½ hours in advance - not with a great choice, but sufficient.
Breakfast was extremely varied and with a great quality.
The hotel also has a garage / parking, which is quite handy.
After returning from dinner, we found that turn down service was also provided, which was greatly appreciated.
All in All, a great experience. I do strongly recommend it and I wish to stay there again in a near future.

This hotel is very well located. 2 mn from downtown. The ambiance have a medieval touch. You get a huggge key to open your door! The staff is very nice and the breakfast is very genrous with a lot of choice. Avoid rooms next ot the pool since they are located near the laundry and you can hear the washing machine all day long...

I agree with the last couple of reviewers. We were here in late December 2013. The mediaeval theme is fine for those who like that kind of thing - although clearly most of the items were no older than me.

The reception area smelt musty (at least) the whole 2 days. Perhaps they'd had drainage problems - it was a very rainy time.

The room was musty as well - especially the wardrobe, one door of which was blocked from opening by the bedside cabinet. The reception and breakfast staff were fine, but there is no bar as such and breakfast was an uninspiring affair (I prefer quality to quantity - this buffet breakfast was very extensive but nothing was tempting and the coffee pots confused all who used them).
