We were staying at the D.Maria pousada and dinner was at this restaurant. From start (greeting/seating) to finish (coffee/port and farewell) this was an exceptional dining experience. The appertisers were simple, regional and delicious. The chateaubriand was perfect. Served at the table by professional waitress (Sara). Wine, selected by the winewaiter, was excellent. Everything about this restaurant was professional, from the staff to the linen napkins and hallmark silver cutlery to the food and wine. We are in our 50's and have dined extensively in Australia(home) and overseas.
With the 20% voucher from the pousada, the bill was only about 140 euros.
This was one of our best experiences evr and rates in our top 5.

Located in the old kitchen for the Palacio National de Queluz, this phenomenal restaurant was the nicest place my mother and I ate in during our Portugal trip. The rabbit served with mushroom risotto was to die for, and the desert selection was amazing. Also of note was the atmosphere, which was dominated by the kitchen's smokestacks and a large stone table for food preparation. Highly recommended.

A stylish restaurant in which to dine and excellent, if conservative, choice of main courses.

There is another restaurant with the same name, make no mistake, this one is located in the National Palace of Queluz (in the outskirts of Lisbon) and belongs to the "Pousadas" network. If you are housed at Pousada D. Maria I this is the pousada restaurant, you just have to cross the road...
Made the reservation for 21:30 but arrived 15 minutes earlier because I thought the trafic would be harder. Most of the people dining there September 9 was guests of the nearby pousada. This restaurant is one of the most impressives in Portugal even if the luxury here doesn't have the gold shinings of Tavares. The food was superb, the service impecable, even quick for this type of restaurant.
Eated:
seafood soop with lobster medallion - fantastic
As main courses I choosed the giant shrimps in the hove with boiled vegetables and it was one of the best ever tasted in my life! My wife, the seafood "açorda" (traditional melted bread with eggs and garlic) wich was excellent.
Desserts were the buffet at giant stone "table"... in pousadas is allways good.
Wine "rosé" (pink) a bottle for €16 and the bill €104, a very fair price for what we eated.
We will return there very soon, mainly because of the relation quality/price.
