Woman working daytime shift was incredibly rude. Arrived to find sign on door saying "will be back soon." When? After waiting 15 minutes in rain, found her in restaurant next door. Seemed very put out to have her lunch interrupted. In morning, as we tried to get on our way, fuse blew in our room while making coffee. No hot water and no attendant to be found. Could not get through on emergency number found downstairs. Well over an hour later, same woman arrived. Seemed annoyed rather than apologetic that we were having problems. Had to shower in other room. Good location and nice woman working at night, but will not be back based on our experience.

The room was very clean and obviously recently renovated, the location is just opposite the station, no need to walk far with your luggage.
There could be a bigger table and a more spacious wardrobe in the room, and some additional shelves in the bathroom, somehow we couldn't find enough space for our things.
What really spoiled our stay was a problem with hot water in our room - on the first night there was no hot water at all, on the second a ridiculous trickle, and it's not funny to find it out after a long day walking in the sun. Not funny neither to go to take a shower in a vacant room next door. Luckily enough, on the third night they managed to fix the problem, but the impression of the place was irrevocably spoiled.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the hills at the back of the hotel have nice views.

I have mixed feelings with that place. From one hand it is located well (near rail station) and you can reach everything by walking (including national palace), owners are nice and very helpful, rooms are clean and the place has its charm. On the other hand room we got on the 2nd floor was very little, the bathroom though was a size of a room but included only small shower and almost no space to hang or put your staff. Since this hotel located on the "cliff" and the weather was not calm, we had windows vibrating all night long, not in the way we could not sleep, but still not very pleasant. If adding the fact that room was cold, I have decided to give it 3.5.
Tips. If you book this hotel and need parking, nearby free parking is on the other side of rail station. During the day it is hard to find spot but at the evening should not be a problem. In a meanwhile park on paid (7h=4.1Euro, but there are meters so you can have less). If you go to Sintra National Palace it is better to leave your car well before you reach it – no parking there. If you go to Pene National palace (recommended), you can take bus 434 (5 Euros round trip, and it takes you also to Castle Dos Moores on the way) or you can go by a car. We have been there in April and there was no problem with Parking.

Hotel is located directly opposite railway. Looks like a house converted to a Hotel. No parking at Hotel, but available about 120 metres. We had a room on the 1st floor, which made it very difficult to gets luggage to room as the stairway is very narrow. Noise from entire Hotel travels up the stairs. We could clearly hear all conversations from reception on the 1st floor.
Our room was very small, with no room for luggage at all. Had to place luggage in the bathroom. Did find tea and coffee making facilities, which is very rare.
For the price of 60 Euro (no breakfast available) per night, would probably not choose to stay here again. Could do better.

Room Tip: If you have heavy luggage, stay on ground level. Stairs very narrow and difficult to negotiate.

Conveniently right by train and bus station but their schedules means noise is not an issue. Nice down comforter on a comfy bed on a chilly night. Had an interesting chat with the owner about changes in Portugal since her childhood. We want to take her home with us. She had great recommendations for meals.

I found this place after searching TripAdvisor.

The reviews are absolutely true!

We left Lisbon at 8am and went to Sintra by train. Monte da Lua is located just across the train station and as someone had already pointed here on TripAdvisor, there is NO noise from the station. In fact, you don't notice you are in front of the train station because the rooms face the valley (opposite direction) and the trains don't make any noise at all (even when you are at the station!)

We had a friendly welcoming with information about the city and lots of sincere smiles! Our room was ready at 9AM! Cool! :)

The room was great! Simple decor, gorgeous view and super-hyper clean! Bathroom super clean, good size, perfect! Two twin beds, super comfortable with fresh linens and two dark chocolates on the table.

Sintra is a "must see" and we are glad we spent one night there because it would be impossible to visit the most important places in just one day. I highly recommend you stay in Sintra at least during two full days or you will miss many attractions! So... sleeping one night is "mandatory" (in my opinion...)

Monte da Lua does not offer breakfast but this is not a problem at all. You walk two houses along the street and there is a simple but clean and good place for breakfast.

Everyone in Monte da Lua is great! I asked recommendations about a good place for dinner and they gave me an excellent tip. Not in the "touristic area" and DELICIOUS.

We had an excellent night of sleep and on the next day we checked out, but they were kind enough to take care of our luggage till night, when we took the train back to Lisbon.

I highly recommend this place if you want to visit Sintra. The tourist bus is on the same street and it is a short and pleasant walk to the Historic Centre of Sintra.

In my opinion "Sintra is a Must Go" and "Monte da Lua" is a "Must Stay" !!!

Room Tip: I think all rooms are excellent. They face the valley, with beautiful views. It is really an EXCEL...

Great location, just in front of the train station (and no, the trains don't wake you up in the morning). You come out of the guesthouse and turn left to go to the new town or right to go to the old town of Sintra, both of which are 5 minutes away by foot. The staff are friendly and competent, and willing to help in any way they can.
