“Stunning!”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

A beautiful palace. One of my favorite stops in all of Portugal and Spain...truly stunning. Relatively crowded (at least in September) but definitely worth a stop. Great photo ops! Plan on taking the bus (not the tourist one -its more expensive) for about $5 euro. Its a long climb up (and a dangerous one) if you were to attempt to head there on foot. Wear comfortable shoes regardless...lots of walking!

“Eclectically beautiful. ”
Reviewed 4 November 2013 via mobile

After visiting the moorish castle I continued my trek to the Pena Palace. It is beautifully colourful. Look out for the scary gothic devil guy that looks like he is holding up a window. The palace looks like it was built by Willie Wonka. The views are unbelievable. You also have a chance to tour the inside and learn a little about its former inhabitants. It is very interesting and a journey through Portuguese history. Get fit and enjoy. There are regular buses from the town to the Palace. Dont go to Sintra without seeing this Palace.

“You almost have to go, but...”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

This is a spectacular looking palace that is almost laughingly hard to get to . Be prepared to spend a lot of time going to and from with a few changes of conveyance. Once you are up on the mountain, the view (if it is clear) is unbelievable, and the palace itself is like a caricature of a beautiful palace... outside. the interior doesn't really live up to the hype. You have to go, however, and while you are up there, eat in the café and shop in the store, both worthwhile. I wish I could say that looking at it from the town will suffice, but you just have to bite the bullet and go. A better bet for actual history and architecture in the National Palace off the square in Sintra... that is definitely worth seeing!

“Relax after a visit to the Palace”

After visit to the Pena Palace, the Pena Park rounds up an incredible fairytale feeling - the park is really big and if you have the time, take a walk surrounded by beautiful nature and explore many hidden gems of the Park!

“A must see”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

Our first look on the Palace of Pena was from the Moorish Castle - we immediately knew what we'll visit next... The Palace is really impressive, with great colors, architecture and well preserved rooms in the Palace itself. At the time of our visit some parts were being renovated but even with that in mind we were really impressed. A must see if you're in Sintra!
