We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Villa Mira Longa in July! The owner Michele was as nice as could be, and the staff was terrific, as well. The views are amazing, the garden is adorable, and the golden retriever is the icing on the cake. Breakfast was delicious, rooms were clean and cute - and the location was also terrific. We had a hard time figuring out how close things were from eachother - and the B&B is likely a 15 minute walk to the train station (or a cheap cab) and only a few minutes to the heart of downtown (and less to other shops/restaurants). I'd certainly stay there again if/when I return!

This was first-class in every way. Michel was the perfect host - providing many tips about where to eat in Sintra, which were the best sites in the area to visit (Pena, Capuchos and Monserrate), and places to visit on our onward trip to Porto (Obidos, Bussaco).

Breakfast was a treat, and it was lovely to eat on the terrace with the superb view out towards the sea. The room was comfortable, spacious and quiet.

In fact the only problem we had was finding it when we arrived - we took longer driving round (and round) Sintra than we took to get to Sintra from Lisbon. The 'Mira Longa' sign is there but it is very small.

The house is very warm and inviting. The entire stay was perfect! I loved going down to breakfast each morning and meeting other travelers from around the world! The rooms are lovely and the beds are very comfortable. It is walking distance to many restaurants, shops and some of the major sights. There is a bus station just outside the gate that will get you up to the Pena Palace and the Moorish Castle. I couldn't have asked for anything more during our stay in Sintra!

First of all we arrived about 6 hours delayed at roughly midnight due to flight delays - I felt so guilty but Michel, bless him, could not have been more accommodating. From the first step inside, we were absolutely put at ease.
The property is so beautiful - it was such a pleasure to return after a day touring.
It has the most gorgeous furniture and is decorated immaculately and has a wonderful garden where you can sit and absolutely unwind. And the beds, unlike the rest of Spain and Portugal, are soft and so so comfortable - definitely the most comfortable bed we have slept on during our whole European holiday.
The breakfast is divine and I so appreciated the beautiful china it was served from.
The location is wonderful, being only a couple of minutes walk from the heart of Sintra and the bus to the castles and palaces stops on the corner less than 100m away.
This is the perfect place to stay when in Sintra. I would return in a heartbeat. Thank you so much.

Room Tip: Every room is magnificent - the beds are the most comfortable of our whole trip to Europe. Seriously...

Beautiful, lovingly restored 19th-century villa set just above the main town (less than 3-minute walk down a flight of stairs to get there). We stayed in two of the three top-floor bedrooms, which shared a big bathroom and each had spectacular views of the town and the Portuguese countryside all the way out to the Atlantic. The hosts clearly dote on the property, which has period details and furniture and a spectacular garden. Beds are very comfortable. Breakfast includes the continental spread of breads, pastries, and jams as well as excellent cheeses and selections of hams, prosciuttos, and salamis. The storybook property is perfectly located to explore either the town or the Pena Palace and Moorish Castle. Highly recommend this B & B.

Room Tip: Rooms upstairs have wonderful views and layout but would be tricky for someone with mobility issues...

Owned by the lovely Oséias and Michel, the Villa Mira Longa is the ideal place to stay in Sintra. The house is like an attraction in itself with beautifully furnished rooms, a colourful garden and a balcony which overlooks the entire city - we got some great pictures of the view.
Upon arrival Oséias kindly explained routes to the main attractions in Sintra - Palácio Nacional de Sintra (6 mins walk), a Quinta de Regaleira (7mins walk on the same road that the property is on) and Palácio de Pena (a 4km climb uphill but there is a 5€ bus service that stops right outside the house that will take you all the way to the Palace entrance. Taxis in town will also take you up there for around 8€ max). If you only go to one of the main sites in Sintra, Pena Palace is definitely worth a visit.
Our room was clean and comfortable with a surprisingly well equipped ensuite bathroom. For example, the vanity box by the sink contained shower gels, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, tissues, plasters, cotton buds and a bar of soap.
Breakfast is served in the bright, extravagantly furnished dining room where my mother and I had our own little table set up. Michel brought us freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh bread, croissants and a teapot of water for our tea. There is also a breakfast buffet with cereals, yoghurt, hams, cheeses, fruit salad and cake. I think this is the only area that the B&B falls short for me as I am a big fan of hot breakfasts and I'd love some scrambled eggs with my presunto.
To conclude I highly recommend this place. It's centrally located, the owners and the family dog are extremely welcoming and we would go back in a heartbeat!

Villa Mira Longa was the highlight of our Portugal trip. Not only is the property beautiful but it has wonderful views of the town, palaces and ocean, and is very central to all the local attractions. Michel was kind enough to highlight routes for myself and my travelling companion that saved us a LOT of unnecessary uphill hiking. The breakfast was amazing - fresh bread, cereal, meats, delicious cheeses and spreads, local pastries and freshly squeezed orange juice (the orange cake was fabulous!!). What struck me most about our stay was the wonderful service our hosts provided to us. My friend and I had been back-packing through Spain and Portugal and booked Villa Mira Longa for a night near the end of our trip. By this point we must have stuck out like sore thumbs compared to the other guests who appeared older (we are both 23), more affluent, and likely had more consistent access to hot showers. Not once did Michel or Oséias acknowledge any difference between ourselves and the other guests - in fact we were offered the terrace table for breakfast in the morning! This was a lovely surprise. I will definitely be recommending this place to any friends or colleagues planning a trip to Portugal.
