Having seen the previous comments, I would like to clarify the hotel's situation. First, Tivoli Sintra is not Tivoli Palacio de Setais (outside the town). Tivoli Sintra is in the historical centre, the building entrance faces the western side of the National Palace. But it is lower on the hill, so that the rooms on the front (=East) side may offer a rather limited view. The slope goes down further to the West, thus opening a "valley view" for the rooms on the West side (on floor 5 we could just see the sea!). This is of course the best option. The church with the wretched bells is part of the quite romantic landscape over here, but we didn't notice any hindrance! Parking space in Sintra's centre is indeed rare; however, in the evening, when daytrippers return to Lisbon, you may give it a try.

My wife and I stayed 4 nights here in mid-March. The hotel location is perfect, right in the middle of the old town, with nearby sights and rstaurants etc.The weather was fantastic! Room overlooking the valley was very comfortable, with a secluded and spacious (for 2) balcony. Excellent beds. The large hotel lobby, which includes a nice bar area and multiple seating, overlooks a fabulous panorama of the surounding town and countryside. Breakfast buffet was very high standard, with a great variety of items, notable for a very generous range of fresh fruit, and wonderful breads and roles. One of the best hotel buffets we have come across, and served in a llovely dining room with the hotel's characteristic million dollar view. All staff we met were helpful, discreet and welcoming. Garage under the hotel (free) was a great asset. The area around Sintra is very attractive.

We truly enjoyed our stay in Sintra and Hotel Tivoli was a big part of that. The hotel was dated and could use a renovation. However, the rooms were clean and the views spectacular. I didn't mind the 80s furniture at all once I looked out the window. The hotel is right on the edge of the hill overlooking a beautiful valley.

We enjoyed our stay and couldn't have been happier with the service and amenities. There was free parking, which was important due to the limited space in town. Breakfast was also included in the price. The breakfast was lovely, with a wide assortment of choices to suit most Americans or Europeans. I would say it was the best breakfast arrangement of our vacation.

When we read the reviews, we were somewhat nervous to stay because of the bell that when off frequently. It does go off, but didn't bother us at all. We had a room not next to the bell and not at the far end of the hotel. We didn't wake up because of it, but we were definitely able to keep track of time.

The hotel was located in the town area of Sintra, from there it was a 5-10 minute drive to Parque da Pena and the Moorish Castle. Both are worth the visit and the hiking.

I would recommend this hotel and Sintra to anyone.

Welcome back, this was my third stay at the Tivoli and really enjoyed it as I have in the past. Great location and easy check in. Thought that they needed to upgrade the bedspreads as I believe they were the same ones that were there when I first visited in 1992.

We had a nice room at the back of the hotel with a lovely view, the best part along with the location and free garage parking. Staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast was fine. Dinner was good but not exceptional. We enjoyed it and would stay here again.
