“Nice but nothing really special”
Reviewed 9 September 2013

On our journey through Portugal we stayed for two nights here. The welcome was friendly and very professional - not so hearty and authentic as we experienced it later. We got some advice where we can have dinner and got a little information about the surrounding area.

The house itself looks a little neglected from the outside. The inside is much nicer and also clean. The gardens and the pool are also very nice.

Breakfast is good as well but we missed a little fresh stuff (e.g. freshly pressed orange juice, etc.).

All over all I'd rate it as good (which tripadvisor does not offer). 3.5 points.

the first impression of the hotel is somewhat old fashionned: old furniture, faded colours, no airco... but it has a lot of charm and the garden with its very very long (25m) swimming pool is great.
the rooms were cool enough (it was very hot outside) so we did not miss the airco.
the ladynat the reception was very helpful. breakfast was ok .

This B&B really does look like a movie set for one of those romantic movies filmed in foreign climes. The ceiling of our huge room was really high, and the windows were all french doors with perfect views of the gardens. As another reviewer wrote - there is an "air of faded glory" and I suppose some of the furniture looked like it didn't really belong - but frankly, that was all part of the charm.

Breakfast was pretty good. The staff was friendly and helpful.

There was a pool, but when we were there is was too rainy and chilly to swim.

Booked on the basis of previous trip advisor reviews we stayed for 3 nights. The guesthouse is a 10min walk ( be careful on the road) from the centre of Sintra ( the old town and really the place to stay!) There is a truth to all the previous posts. The house is old and could do with a massive revamp but the staff are extremely nice, friendly and helpful. We had a garden room, the view was lovely. The negatives: The bed was not the most comfortable, there is a slightly musty odour in the room and there was no safe in the room. It is more a guesthouse than hotel - no bar/ restaurant. The positives: serious charm! Bring your own bar, there is a big terrace with a fabulous view and a big garden. the pool is great. This is not for everyone, if you are into plush, generic hotel rooms don't book here. To steep yourself in some the atmosphere of Sintra this is a good place to start.

Room Tip: Book a garden view room facing the pool

We had such a good experience at this hotel that we came back to it at the end of our roadtrip through Portugal and Spain. It is an oasis, a beautiful hotel and grounds in the charming village of Sintra. It is so relaxing, there is nothing to do but go for long walks in the garden and into the town, swim in the pool, enjoy the amazing views from the terrace, etc. It was also great with young kids, for exploring, swimming, or spending time in the tv/game room. The rooms are large with lots of light, and the staff was helpful and friendly.

This hotel is in a great location for exploring the many delights of Sintra. When we arrived at the hotel we were a little taken aback as there was an air of faded glory. But the staff were very efficient, friendly and could not be more helpful. Our room had a double aspect, plenty of natural light and was very clean. We doubted the efficiency of the plumbing but no problems and the water was always very hot and instant. The beds were a little hard but a foam cover could be added on request. The gardens were a great place to relax after a day sightseeing. There were 20 of us in our group and we all ate together. At breakfast we were continuously topped up with food and drink.

Room Tip: We had room 15 which was on the corner with a good view of the castle. Probably the room above would...

This old world accommodation just outside Sintra centre near the small village of St.Pedro was a good place for us to stay for 2 days, allowing us to view the many sights in and around Sintra.
Our hostess Susana was very friendly, helpful and informative when we checked in, and provided us with a lovely room overlooking a large balcony area. The ensuite room was comfortable. It is an old hotel of past year luxury. We would not have been surprised to see Hercules Poirot, the Belgian detective walk into the breakfast room. It was that kind of hotel. The nature walks in the grounds had a pleasant unkept type of ambiance. It was very natural and charming.
