We stayed here for a night and thought it was a great find. Our group of 3 American 60 something couples enjoyed the beautiful spaces. Each room was well outfitted and decorated. The inn keeper helped us with dinner reservations close to the inn and not as touristy as in the city center. Excellent breakfast too.

Hotel Nova Sintra is set in a commanding position high above the Palacio Nacional de Sintra and looking to the luxury villas and Moorish rampart. Senor Rui Bernardo has maintained the charm of his family property but updated it since our third and previous stay. Top marks to Senora Bernardo's cakes on the great breakfast buffet and to Rui and team, especially Luis and Domingos. I see son Simão perhaps joining the team after his studies. The room appointments, friendly hospitality and overall ambience of the high and extensive sunny terrace will all keep drawing visitors back for return stays

Room Tip: You may want a more intimate outlook, buut our favourite is Room 11, one level above ground, with ex...

If you are looking for 5 star luxury this is not the place for you. If you like a hotel that has a lovely comfortable feel to it with friendly very helpfull staff then I would certainly recommend this little gem.The room was nice with a lovely view of the castle. The large terrace area with lots of comfortable seating was a little oasis of calm. It is an easy walk to the train station but the walk to the old town is a bit more strenuous.I would definatly stay here again if I ever return to Sintra.

Our stay at the Nova Sintra was brief but comfortable. Our room, No 10, was on the first floor and my heart sank when I first entered as it was small and tired looking. The room itself was small and basically furnished and the tiny bathroom could do with sprucing up but that being said the bed was comfortable and the staff friendly and efficient. We loved the location being out of the busy tourist area and only a 15 min walk to the main attractions. Unfortunately the weather prevented us enjoying the terrace area which was one of the things that had drawn me to the hotel. Breakfast was very good and plentiful so overall, and taking in to account this is a 2 star hotel, I was satisfied with value for money albeit disappointed my room didn't live up to what is promised on the hotels website.

Room Tip: Room 10 has yet to be updated and has no air conditioning.

Customer service at Hotel Nova Sintra was excellent. We were made to feel right at home. Location was super -- near the train station and the part of town with a supermarket/market/etc., but not too far away from the old, sightseeing part of town. Free parking available about a five minute walk away in the town lot. Our hallway on the first floor was a bit dark, but it wasn't a big problem. Breakfast quite nice.

Room Tip: Our room at the end of the first-floor hallway did not have much of a view.

Hotel Nova Sintra is beautifully located to take advantage of the view into the old town and the structures up on the hill. Our host Rui Bernardo was genial and guided us through some wine selection on the terrace on a beautiful sunny day. The hotel is only a gentle walk from the Sintra railway station but still close to the main part of the historic town. Breakfast was excellent including hot food items not typically found at small hotels such as Nova Sintra.

Room Tip: We followed advice and took one attic room (always nice to be above possible plumbing noise), though...

This was a great value for the price, and included a nice breakfast (though we had to rush out to catch a train). The host at the desk advised us to go up the mountain first and then come back down into town, which worked out just perfectly. Room was small (bathroom was very tiny), but everything was clean and functional and we had a nice view from room 10 of the castle at night (Pena Palace was behind something and not visible). Very tiny size of the bathroom made it hard for two people to be in there at the same time, for example, one person getting out of the shower and another brushing teeth. We arrived early in the day (around 10am maybe), and they happily stored our luggage all day until we returned from sight-seeing. They even offered us a couple of other rooms if we wanted to go ahead and check into one, but since we didn't need to get in it just then, we opted to wait for the one with the view. It was too cool to hang out on the patio while we were there. Narrow walk-up stairs to second floor, but we travel light, so this wasn't a problem for us. I didn't see an elevator. Quiet. A short walk from the train station away from the historic part of town, which was maybe 1-2 km away.

Room Tip: Room 10 overlooked the patio, so could be noisier when the weather is nicer and people are hanging o...
