Reviewed 18 September 2013

If you are coming to Sintra, please do this magnificent town justice and stay at least a night ! The magical town is even more beautiful during the evening and there is so much to take in, a day tour is not enough.

As stated in the title, this hotel sits on a slope leading into the town center. In fact, you can see the two enormous kitchen chimneys of the National Palace from most rooms. The rooms are modern and elegant, very clean and the bathtub is big enough for two adults and a toddler. (Bathtubs may only be available in some rooms) The staff are very friendly, courteous, helpful, resourceful. Best concierge service I have received in a hotel in years. Their breakfast buffet serves both continental and hot breakfasts, as well as speciality sweets of Sintra. They seem to bake their pastel de Nata on site, I had warm ones during my two night stay.

Another perk of this hotel is that across the street from the hotel is a small playground which is enclosed from roads. It seemed to close after 19h00 or so, and it has slides ( one big and one smaller one), rocking horses/ bikes/ etc, and swings. It is very well maintained and clean. It is the perfect place to take your toddler for a romp before hitting some sites.

The only down side to this hotel, is that there is only three parking spaces available and that the owner and their family seem to have priority usage of this coveted space. In our case, they were having tea and so we were told to park half a mile down the road in the public parking lot for where they would provide free parking tickets. Yes, the whole town of Sintra seems to have a lack of parking, and yes, in the end we got the parking in front of the hotel after driving around for parking space and then waiting around, all of which took my husband about a little short of a hour. But in my opinion, if they are advertising on hotel reservation websites that they have parking available, this should be made available for the guests of the hotel. BTW, we were also told that there would be somebody to take the car key to park it for us if need be but this was not the case when we got to the hotel. We strongly feel that the parking situation could be dealt with more efficiently (emailing a map indicating parking areas perhaps, or warning of lack of parking upon booking and reservation for parking as well? ) .

Also, when you make a booking, the hotel will send you a form for you to fill out, about preferences of number of pillows, flowers/ chocolates/ birthday cakes, etc ... It adds a nice touch to personalize your stay, but some of these services are for a fee which is not indicated in the initial form. One would think they would save their clients time or themselves the embarrassment of corresponding back and forth.

But despite what is mentioned in the last two paragraphs, I would still recommend this hotel. The hospitality of the staff is superb, the location is great and the plus side far outweighs the negatives.

The hotel is centrally placed in the beautiful medieval town of Sintra. The hotel, built approx 2012 is a small (18 rooms) but modern hotel with the most helpful staff we've ever met! The rooms are fully air conditioned, superbly decorated and spotlessly clean. We received complimentary 'edible gifts' at various stages of our weeks stay which were much appreciated. The hotel restaurant was very good and most reasonably priced. The breakfast catered for all tastes from continental to full English!
Car parking at the hotel is limited to three spaces but the hotel have arranged for free street parking within 100 yards of the entrance.
We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend the hotel. Our thanks to Filipa and all other staff who were extremely helpful and went the extra mile (quite literally!).

Room Tip: All rooms have a view of the town and adjacent countryside are are of high quality

Sintra is a hugely popular tourist destination with medieval streets ill suited to the motor car. We arrived hassled with the problem of parking. The kind receptionist calmly ushered us into a reserved space outside the hotel and helped us in to a stylish haven of peace. Everything was perfect but relaxed and friendly too. We Had booked for one night but stayed for two. A comfortable, quiet room, the best breakfast ever and wonderfuL palaces to see. We loved it.

This is a magical hotel in a magical place. My husband and I spent 2 nights there in a beautiful new suite overlooking the town and view. The staff was very kind and helpful, at every turn. I could not recommend the hotel enough.
We walked from the train station, and most of the sites were within walking distance, all very relaxing. They arranged a car for the airport and offered to pack us a breakfast to go.
I can't imagine a better place to stay in Sintra.

Room Tip: If you can spurge for the suite. But I don't imagine there are any bad rooms.

We made an advance booking (about 4 months in advance) via Booking.com. The room rate was good and the conditions clearly set out the cancellation penalties, which included 50% if you cancelled within less than 7 days. Unfortunately our plans changed and we cancelled with only 3 days to go. We were totally prepared to pay the penalty, but the hotel sent us a very nice email back saying they would waive the charge. We confirmed this with Booking.com and they said the hotel was waiving the penalty so there would be no charge. Impressive!

We were actually in Sintra for a few hours and saw the hotel, it looks lovely and is in a great location. We will stay there next time for sure!

We stayed 2 nights in Sintra Boutique Hotel and I instantly regretted we hadn't booked for longer. It was a fabulous hotel. The staff are just fantastic - Sofia in particular was so brilliant from booking to saying 'Goodbye'. She got us a parking space outside the hotel even - a mean feat - those of you who have been to Sintra will appreciate. We had a lovely room - overlooking the front of the hotel and the National Palace. It had the best double glazing I ever experienced. We never heard any of the noise outside from the constant traffic, tourists etc. as long as the windows were closed. Sintra was absolutely stunning. Traffic was hectic as long as the day trippers were around but usually before 10am and after 7pm it was much quieter and more civilised.

I have never experienced customer service like it. The receptionist came out and greeted us- and escorted us to our room - gave us a tour of the hotel, showed us how everything worked, gave us wifi codes, brochures and advised us on places to visit. They even spotted we were celebrating a special occasion and gave us a beautiful cake and Champagne - totally unexpected.

Breakfast - like the rest of the hotel was seriously elegant and well executed. It was perhaps one of the best breakfasts I ever had. The room is quite minimalistic. All items are 'buffet style' however we did get espressos, toast and 'fresh' orange juice to order. I have never seen such a variety of fresh fruit on a breakfast buffet. The hot section was topped up regularly - so you never had lots of cold greasy food sitting there. I wish I could take a bus tour of restaurateurs here for a breakfast masterclass!!!!! I think overall it was really good value too - you get what you pay for applies here!!!

To sum up - gorgeous classy hotel, brilliant location, fantastic staff, wonderful food. How could you not love it???????

Room Tip: All the rooms seem to be good here.

Lovely hotel. Very central location which is perfect. Short taxi ride from train station. Comfortable room with nice bathrooms. Nice view. Staff. On reception very helpful and friendly.
Only thing that let it down was breakfast. You had to order the night before which we did but then the following morning were given some bread and fruit and nothing we had ordered. The following morning was a Buffett and was considerably better. I do not know what went wrong the first morning. The staff at breakfast barely spoke a word. Other than this which was only a slight problem a great hotel
