We really loved this train as it took us all around Sintra while listening to Fado music and some explanations of the tourist features as we went by. The staff were so lovely and didn't charge us for the children, and also allowed us to travel back up to San Pedro market and back again for no extra cost! Would definitely recommend it!

You easily catch this train if you are in Sintra . The trip is about half an hour and you arrive to a small beach village. The beach it self is not the best that we have in fact but is also a great place to have a meal. I would advice you to eat a fish or shellfish at Mãças club restaurant or a light meal at Barmacia restaurant, very simple but with tables at the window with great views. Enjoy the ride!!

The ride was noisy but very nice after all. It took about one hour and cost 2 euro. It was pleasure to pass all the villages and admire beautiful scenery. It was a great trip. Praia das Macas was also scenic and ocean very windy. Would highly recommend.

What a great way to travel in a beautiful part of Portugal! The Sintra tram is a great little service using trams made in the UK - an indication of lasting skill and workmanship. The service only runs Friday to Sunday but it's worth the wait. Running alongside the road but in vantage positions much higher than a car you get a great view all round. We took our three kids who had a whale of a time and we could relax as we weren't driving. The scenery between Sintra and the coast varies from the superb to the spectacular with views of the hills covered in green, fantastic old buildings, ornate houses and modern yet tasteful new builds. The journey time is leisurely but goes all too quickly. Great service, great value, a Portuguese treasure.
