“One of my Top 5 favorite places I've ever visited”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

THIS is where you need to spend a majority of your time in Sintra. The house is beautiful and impressive, but the grounds are really where it's at. I describe it as the perfect blend of fairy tale and Disney World. Incredible landscaped yet natural looking grounds to wander and get lost in. There are countless paths and ways to get somewhere and everywhere you look there's a stone tower or structure peeking out. Fountains, lush flowers, secret tunnels, waterfalls, and a seriously cool (but potentially really dangerous) cistern that you can get to through said underground tunnel or by climbing down its spiral staircase.

It's amazing how much free-rein you get - if you see a structure, you can probably climb to the top of it. Kudos to the former owner for teaching me exactly what I would build if I had the same endless amount of money. Definitely worth a long visit!! PS grab a crepe at the food stand and eat it in the shadow of the house - you'll feel like you're in Downton Abbey!

“Lovely grounds”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

We didn't visit the house but the grounds are extensive and interesting, especially the 'upside down tower'!

“Most interesting and beautiful park”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

I found the whole experience like an adventure. We could explore different paths that took us to some where cool. The flowers and trees were beautiful. I really liked the variety and you can tell that they take good care of the plants. We crossed the stepping stones on the "lake" that brought us to really dark underground caves. It was really cool as each path brought us to somewhere different.

They could take better care of the ponds and lakes as the water is really still and looks yucky.

Entrance fee is cheap. Definitely worth a visit.

“Best of the park.. and that is saying something”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

While the rest of the park is defined by manmade fortification and elaborate interiors, Quinta is an outdoor experience which mimics a kind of fairytale-esque walk through hidden grottos, and underground streams. We went while it was raining and it was still wonderful. Its not on the main pamphlet for the park and you have to buy entrance separately, but its worth the money and the effort. Really fun or both kids and adults.

“A must for gardeners”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

The architectural garden scape was a must see. make sure you have your walking shoes. You may want to take a Tuk Tuk or cab to the sight. Cabs are extremely reasonable.
