“Doesn't look real”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

We walked from the center of Sintra after lunch to Quinta da Regaleira, about 10-15 minutes. The walk itsel was beautiful. The manor house looks like a fantasy - very ornate. This was a royal hunting lodge and that is reflected by the interior decor - mosaics, paintings and carvings of wild game and hunting scenes. Tours are available, but there is sufficient signage to let you know what;s going on. we found one of the secrets tunnels which took us to a beautiful little chapel. The is a mosaic fountain a a grotto with towers to climb. We had a limited time here and wish we had more. There is a vast garden we did not have time to explore.

“Spectacular surroundings”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014

Really quirky gardens with stunning set-pieces. The little gorge has a bridge over the stepping stones that looks lovely. But the steps lead under the waterfall to a cavern that you can explore. There were no flashlights for sale on site but everyone uses the torch app on their mobiles so it isn't really a problem.

The house looks like the Addams Family would live in it but it was well worth looking round. As with most attractions in Portugal the staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough for a family with a four year old.

There's no parking here really but you can walk here from the centre of town. We parked at Monserrate and caught the little shuttle bus from there.

“Beautiful and mysterious garden”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014

We went there on a cloudy day, which is recommendable. 5 euros entry. Extremely beautiful place with lots of odd plants and trees, caves, grottos, baroc buildings and towers all intertwined into a garden right out of Alice in Wonderland. I would recommend this place to anyone unless you are disabled (simply too hard to get around).
