Having spent the morning on the tourist track visiting the palace and Moorish castle, we decided to retreat to our hotel for lunch and some peace and quiet.
Having had an enjoyable breakfast here earlier we were happy to try it for lunch and the friendly waiter was patient with us showing us the main menu and then the snack menu.
We both chose from the snack menu the club sandwich which came with crisps, and were not disappointed. It was very large and a beast to tackle, being a triple-decker. With this in mind a waitress brought us a plate full of extra napkins which was a thoughtful touch! Each element and layer was very tasty and it could not be faulted. We drank beers and water and enjoyed the excellent views from the window. It was the perfect oasis away from the tourist hordes and the waiting staff were both superb.
The bill came to just over 20 euros for the two giant sandwiches, two beers and .5ltr of water, great value for Sintra and a hotel restaurant - definitely not a tourist trap like so many places in town - highly recommended!
