“Great fish”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

We ate here twice during our two week stay. The fish choice is great. Had the fish kebab which came with vegetables and potatoes, wonderful!. Great little place located on a busy corner. Sit outside and people watch.

“If you visit Madeira, visit here!”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

If you want to eat well and to hear local music (fado), this restaurant is a must place to visit. We eat here whenever we are in Madeira. Serve asks if you want garlic bread and cheese. They should be taken even its a little extra to pay. A three-course menu and a glass of wine costs about 40-50 €/person. Fado will begin at 8pm. Best time to book your table is at 7.30pm. Listen the music. Do not speak or eat at the same time. Manners ;-) Fado hits our finnish soul. An absolute favorite restaurants in Madeira!

“Nice meal.”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

We ate in this restaurant twice on our recent visit to funchal. The first time it was recommended to us by fellow guests in our hotel who told us they had enjoyed an excellent meal here. On our first visit we too enjoyed an excellent meal . We had the meat skewers and they were cooked to perfection. We thought the price was perfectly reasonable and we decided on a return visit. On the second occasion however, we were not so impressed although I would point out that the meal was perfectly edible. I just felt it was not up to same standard as it had been on our first visit. Also the table was outside on the narrow street and the cars thundering ap and Down , sometimes at considerable speed was slightly un nerving.

“Never again”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

What a disappointment we had in this restaurant in Funchal.. We were attracted by the food being cooked outside on a grill. We asked if the restaurant catered for vegetarian customers. The waiter outside offered that the restaurant could do some vegetable skewers cooked on the open grill. This sounded ok so we were taken inside and passed on to another waiter. After ordering and getting our drinks we received the menu. Our friend asked for the grilled vegetable skewers we were promised but were told that it could not be done and there were no other vegetarian options but we could have a fried vegetable dish. Our friend accepted this. When the food arrived my meat dish on a skewer was ok but my wife's "cod?" and friends fried vegetables were very poor. This was especially the case for the fried vegetables. There was a small selection of greasy soggy veg. The lady who served us almost seemed apologetic and put the food down and disappeared quickly. This was without doubt one of the worst experiences we have ever had on holiday and not exceptionally cheap. My advice is that if you are a vegetarian don't go anywhere near this restaurant.. The service was surly apart from one female waitress. It was almost as if they were doing us a favour by eating there. Our worst experience in Funchal. No need to say we did not eat there again. One positive for the restaurant was that there was a live fado group who sang during the meal. Whilst this would not be our choice of music it did seem authentic and was the only thing that we enjoyed at this restaurant. We paid our bill and left. Very poor experience and one we will not repeat.

Dear customer,
We are very sad with what you experienced with us in your visit. We are shure that could be some misunderstanding regarding to our vegetarian dishes . Since 1987 that we serve Vegetarian dishes like Vegetarian Paella and Grilled Vegetables with tofu on the skewer and Spaguetti Napolitana easely found in our Menu.

We do hope that in your next visit to Funchal we can have another opportunity to change your opinion about our service and food.

Kind Regards,

Duarte Goncalves
