We visited Cris's Place last evening after eating at Cris's earlier in the week. For overall experience, in my opinion, Cris's has the slight edge but we did enjoy the buzz in Cris's Place too! The Saxophonist set the mood and we were given a nice corner table. Service was excellent like a well oiled machine. We were given a Gin and Tonic and sparkling wine on arrival and we opted for the Concept Menu at 37.50 Euros a head. Wine flowed throughout the evening and my glass was readily filled up. My wife and I both had the same choice of starter and main. The starter of sautéed prawns was very tasty and light enough to allow room for the fillet steak. The steaks were cooked perfectly and very tender, accompanied by a Foie Gras sauce. Vegetables were well cooked. The puddings, creme brûlée and Chocolate Fondant were excellent and we left feeling well fed and watered. I would happily recommend Cris's Place and if returning to Funchal, it would be on our list of return visits. We started the evening sat outside at the pub/restaurant next door and all in all, had a lovely evening before we strolled back to our hotel. Cris's Place worked out at £37.50p a head (UK money) including a 12.5% gratuity so great value for quality food.
