“Eccentric rooms, quite an experience”

If you find it amusing to study room architecture, this is one of the most different hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. The shower and the wash basin is a waterfall. The shower floor (and as well parts of the floor in the corridors) is laid with black natural stones. There is a Jacuzzi in the middle of the room and black glass doors to the toilet and shower.
Staff is very friendly and the hotel, which is on the top floors of a shopping mall is very clean and tidy. And filled with design and architectural details.
The pool area on the top floor gives a beautiful view over Funchal.

We recently stayed for 10 nights at the Vine hotel Funchal, the room is very modern with touch lighting and a bath behind a smoke glass screen. The service was excellent, as soon as you requested anything such as an Ipad charger they immediately delivered it to your room. The breakfast was excellent fantastic choice including continental and full English, we had read read previous reviews regarding only scrambled eggs available, this was rubbish as there were boiled and fried eggs as well as scrambled. Included were fresh squeezed orange juice, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans, hash browns, waffles, different fresh fruits and juices. Too much we felt stuffed each morning but what can you do when it is so nicely presented.
Lovely sun deck with jacuzzi and infinity pool with fabulous views over Funchal and up the mountains.
The hotel is situated in the middle of the city with great access to the main bus station 15 minutes walk away.
The service continued when I returned home to discover I had left a pair of comfy shoes in my room, I emailed the general manager and a week later the shoes have been posted back to the UK
- how many hotels would bother or take the trouble to do this I am really grateful!

Stayed in this very good hotel in June 2014 & my wife and I were very pleased with the room and the very friendly staff. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anybody thinking of staying there.
The location is central to town centre and the old town where there is big choice of restaurants offering good food.

The Vine is a delightful hotel but maybe not in the best location, when we visited there were major road works ongoing just outside the hotel, even without this there is still a lot of traffic at night. It is situated in a shopping centre which is handy for some things but maybe not others. The room was great although the balcony was on the small side with not the best view. The shower and bathroom area is a wonderful experience and makes you fell as if you are getting a spa treatment. A lot of people complain about the lighting, maybe it is a bit dull but you get used to it. The staff could not be more helpful and breakfast every morning was a joy

We stayed at the vine for 8 days in June 2014. We found the hotel to be well situated in Funchal, close to the harbour, close to local restaurants, the old town and cable car all within easy walking distance. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough to be of assistance. The roof top infinity pool, jacuzzi and sun loungers were an excellent place to chill out at the end of a busy day walking or sight seeing. The room was very comfortable and cleaned daily. We felt that the room was on the dark side if the sun blind was not raised, this wasn't a problem though. Overall we felt the hotel offered a great base to explore Madeira from and would book again.

Have stayed in many top-class Hotels world wide, but this Hotel must be the Tops.Decor is modern and stylish, our suite was large and very comfortable, the bed was larger than King Size, although lighting switches etc require a Degree-but must point out that lights under bed come on automatically when the Loo is needed.Breakfast is excellent and the Roof Bar and Swimming pool are to die for!!!!.ALL staff are excellent and location is superb in the fantastic City of Funchal-althuogh area whilst very warm, alot of cloud.

Room Tip: Over looking Atrium at back

This one of those special hotels. A true design hotel in which every detail is thought of.
We stayed in a Junior suite and it was just beautiful, spacious and confortable, with all the mod cons and great amenities.
It is one of the rare hotels in the world to have a complete blackout system in the room - praise to that!
The only problem in the room is the poor soundproofing from the streets - as this is a central Funchal hotel, you get a LOT of noise from traffic or just people talking in the street...
The top floor open air pool is so good and has a fabulous view.
The staff is amazing and the breakfast is...divine!
Also, the in-house gourmet restaurant UVA is really worth trying.
