“Well worth the climb”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2014 via mobile

We thought that we had covered most things in Funchal but found something in TA that we had missed.

This museum is a short but fairly steep climb north of the Municipal Gardens but worth every step.

The 'tour guide' is an informative folder covering every room in this lovely house.

The modest entry price, 50% off for those over 65, makes it value for money.

“Interesting collections”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2014

The museum houses a classy collection of furniture, paintings, glassware, china etc. It's worth going through each room slowly, to really appreciate the quality of the pieces. The tile museum is fascinating too. At the moment it also has a curious exhibition of engravings from a 19th century book about Madeira.

“very interesting house”

For the price of a few Euros this collection is very interesting just like some country houses back in England.
Take your time and have a good look around.

Nice old Quinta with large collection of mugs and china. The old library is worth a visit. Worth the walk up the hill and very near St Clare's convent

“A drop in time”

You feel like transported in time in this lovely house with delicate furniture. Also the Azuleros house is interesting although a bit for specialists.
