“What a find!”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

Came across it by accident as it is not on a main thoroughfare but it was a great find! The food was excellent with a good choice of vegetarian dishes. The staff were very friendly and helpful plus it has a great atmosphere. The prices were very reasonable. If you want to go there it is best to book as it is very popular.

“Our best meal in Funchal”
Reviewed 29 June 2014 via mobile

We found this restaurant on our final evening in Funchal, which we were gutted about as we would definitely have returned! I'm vegetarian and the selection of veggie dishes on the menu was the best and most interesting I saw during my 7 day trip. The food was delicious, both drinks and meals were well priced and the restaurant was gorgeous. Would definitely return!

“A wonderful little find”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

This beautiful little restaurant was a wonderful find just off one of the main squares in Funchal. The food was wonderful and very reasonable for the service and overall standard and would certainly recommend it. Apparently it is well used by locals which is always a good sign. We must have hit a good night as after coming back and reading the reviews it suggests that we should have booked. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and the Tomato Soup with poached egg is to be tried. Even the bread to start seemed to be home main accompanied by olives, pate spreads and cheese. Would certainly return.

“Total discrimination”
Reviewed 26 June 2014 via mobile

We were two portuguese people from the mainland with money to spend at the restaurant. We were approached by a lady from the staff that after asking if we had a reservation informed us that there were only two tables available near the restaurant entrance. While we were deciding if we wanted to stay or leave, an older foreign tourist couple arrived, and altough has been indicated the same tables it was also asked if they wanted to wait a little while for another almost vacant table. We were just simply ignored, even after asking twice if there was the possibility to wait just like the other couple. The waitress answered negativitely and ignored us, paying only attention to the other couple. Altough we are portuguese we were victims of discrimination. Conclusion: spent our money somewhere else

“Not disappointed”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

Visited this place based on trip advisor comments and was as good as people have made out. It is not a big restaurant and we didn't book so were probably lucky to get a table as it was full throughout the evening. I had traditional onion and tomato soup with the poached egg to start and it was beautiful if a bit filling. This was followed by Pork in wine and garlic which was really tender and wonderfully cooked. My wife had scabbard and prawn sauce and was suitably enthused by it. Deserts were no let down as I had a sumptuous passion fruit pudding and my wife had an egg pudding which was like a huge soft fluffy meringue. As we found everywhere it was great value food and bottles of super bock for non wine drinkers at 1.80 euros in a restaurant is sensational in my book.
