Beautiful villa, great views and a lovely garden to look out to.
Funchal is Christmas. The Christmas lights were amazing, food was excellent, views were breathtaking, and the villa delightful. Joao made us very welcome and had great advice on the area. Weather was fantastic - we swam in the sea and the lido and ate outside in the evenings.
The only advice I would give for Madeira is make sure you get a large engine size from the car rental. We'd booked a 1.2 Ford Focus for 4 adults and they upgraded us to something bigger. Madeira has a lot of hills - we drove from sea level to 1800 metres up Pico do Arieiro - you're above the clouds. I passed roads with a 37% incline! If you go inland you will spend a lot of time in 1st and 2nd gear - totally worth it with the countryside and views.
If you get the chance, see the Mandalin Orchestra, take the Catamaran out to see the dolphins and take time to enjoy the villa - its great for just relaxing with a glass or two (or three) of Madeira wine and looking at the lights in the evening over the town.
Thoroughly recommend the Villa, and Funchal for any time of year !
This is a fantastic villa heartily recommended. It is stunning, beautiful and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Our requirements for a fabulous view, a garden and a relaxing outdoor space, both sunny and shaded, were completely fulfilled here. The villa is well placed forgetting around the island by car and is also a short drive from Funchal centre. Joao, the on-site manager was extremely helpful in advising about trips and restaurants. Hope to return one day.
The villa was absolutely beautiful, amazing sea views and veiws over Funchal, the villa had beautiful gardens to relax and sunbathe in if wanted.
We hired a car to explore the island, Maderia is beautiful. The Villa also has private parking.
The house was fully equipped with all practical items, dishwasher, washing maching iron etc.
Jaoa the house manager was extremely helpful and was always available with advice if needed.
I would thouroughly recommend this villa, not just for the house but also the owner is very helpful and responds to all your questions promptly.
This is not so much a holiday let, rather a home that you feel you belong to. From the initial meeting with Jaoa and the welcome package of Madeira wine and some essentials to his suggestions for the supermarket, bakery and local restaurants, this was going to be good. Each room was superb, clean, comfortable and pleasant. the master bedroom with walk-in shower... put a smile on my partner's mother's face right away!
The kitchen... a dream! and the two decks and balconies over a gorgeous scented colourful garden! That just made it. If you are looking for a quiet base to explore Madeira... look no further. If I return to Madeira... you never know.. I would choose here again without a moments hesitation!
Yes it is that good!
My elderly parents, my two sisters and I had a wonderful stay at Villa Firdaus from 15th to 22nd April.
The villa is very easy to find and only about 20-30 minutes easy drive from the airport.
We were given a very warm welcome by Joao who looks after the property for the owners. Joao kindly left some essentials, milk etc and even some Madeiran treats, which was a very nice touch. Joao throughout our stay was very helpful and full of information about the island.
The Villa is very spacious and exceeded our expectations. We felt very comfortable and at home very quickly. The kitchen is very well equipped with plenty of cutlery , crockery and cooking utensils. My Mother prefers to have home cooked food and we dined in most evenings, we felt we had everything we needed to cook just as if we were at home. It was nice to have a proper dining table and also the very comfortable lounge area where we relaxed after a busy day out.
The kitchen is very spacious with a utility area tucked away around the corner with a washing machine, iron and ironing board. The dishwasher was a bonus too....nobody wants to do the washing up on holiday....right?
We enjoyed breakfast in the sunshine everyday on the veranda overlooking the beautiful garden and the sea in the distance. There is also a lovely terrace with seating, and sun loungers which is another area to enjoy the lush garden and catch the sun. In fact the garden gets the sun for most of the day and it was nice to come back at the end of the afternoon and enjoy a cup of tea in the sun at the bottom of the garden as well.
Joao looks after the garden as well and it certainly a delight by itself with a huge variety of flowering plants and trees.
We hired a car and driving into Funchal was very easy only 5-10 minutes depending on which part of the town you wanted go to. The bus stops are nearby and my sisters did use them a couple of times. As the only driver, I thought the location of the Villa is also ideal for exploring the rest of the island; access to the express dual carriageway is very close by but far enough to not hear any noise.
Joao lives in an annex to the main Villa and has two very friendly dogs who were always happy to see us and a cat who regularly came for cuddles....so those with pets back home will get their furry fix.
All in all, we had a super holiday in Madeira and we would most definitely recommend a stay here. We were out every day and very much enjoyed our trips, however, towards the end of the holiday, we felt we should have stayed not gone out as much and enjoyed the villa more.
We hope to return soon.
Great location with stunning views of the hills and Funchal.
The garden is very well kept and full of interesting flora and fauna.
Everything about the villa is simply stunning and well thought through . There is style mixed with practicality and plenty of room for the three of us.
Joao who looks after the place and lives in an annexe downstairs was most helpful, friendly and can't do enough to help.
All in all an amazing stay in Funchal at a brilliant villa.
Only small snag is the neighbourhood dogs which tend to form a chorus . Ear plugs did help .
We had a lovely stay at Villa Firdaus. The views from the villa are truly stunning (both day and night) . What we liked most about the villa is that it felt like a very well cared for family home. Joao the caretaker is exceptionally helpful and friendly. The garden is beautifully cared for. The villa is very spacious and just what we needed with a young baby.
The villa is slightly out of town but would have been walkable for us without a young baby (but we are keen walkers). Also there are buses which again would have been fine without a baby. This wasn't too much of an issue as taxis were reasonably priced to get to and from the centre of Funchal so we arranged for taxi pick ups and drop offs every day (we used Madeira Island Tours as a taxi and Joao's friend). We also did a private tour of the island through Madeira Island Tours which was also reasonable. It was also nice just to stay at the villa and soak in the nice garden and views!
I loved the fact that there was a big supermarket just a short walk from the villa as well as a bakery (which has amazing custard tarts), butchers and green grocers. It meant we got to try some lovely local products. The owner also leaves a welcome gift of local Madeira products to try which I thought was a really nice thing to do.
I was very glad that we had chosen Villa Firdaus to stay at!
