“Great hotel, brilliant location, would certainaly go back.”
Reviewed 27 November 2010

We had a very enjoyable stay at the end of November. Our room on the 7th floor was big, light and airy with a balcony which had fantastic views over the ocean. The room was cleaned to a high standard every day. The bathroom is a good size with two wash hand basins, a bidet, bath/shower and toilet, with clean towels every day.

Breakfast had a wide choice of buffet food. The tea and coffee could have been hotter but it's a very minor point (and when you are sat on a balcony in the warm air at the end of November who cares) The infinity pools are excellent with plenty of sun beds (OK it was November but still very hot) and very friendly poolside staff who supply the towels. The small restaurant by the pools served very good food from snacks to full meals and the snacks were very good value for money. We were on bed and breakfast so ate out most nights and there are plenty of good restaurants nearby. It's about a 40 minute leisurely walk into Funchal and a taxi only costs around 5 Euros.
There is an amazing spa room with a lot of optional treatments (extra cost) which we didn't use as we went out walking most days.
We had a couple of days of rain and just took a taxi into Funchal where there is plenty to see and do.

The service in the hotel was very good, we asked for extra pillows which arrived within about 15 minutes and the hotel does not supply milk in the room as standard but it was soon delivered after we requested it. The staff at reception are efficient which to some people may seem a bit stand-offish, but they get the job done quickly and without fuss, and a smile can work wonders.

We will definitely go back.

Went to Madeira for the half term break because of the good weather all year round. The welcome we received at the hotel was excellent, our rooms were ready even though we arrived in the morning, the hotel and rooms were spotless as were the pool areas and restaurants. We went B&B and the breakfast spread was very tasty and huge. Had a peak at the evening buffet which looked lovely but we ate out of the hotel most night. Lots of eateries around the hotel that are reasonably priced, about 50 euros for family of four with drinks but no alcohol. Very nice pizza place called La Tricollo. The staff at the hotel were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about things to do on the island.

We checked out a lot of hotels in the funchal area. The cs madeira was best choice because of the location with direct access to the sea and with a separat driveway. (No traffic, great feeling for funchal). The price value is very good and overall, the hotel has a good standart. It has a lot of green, also on the roof top of lower buildings. The hotel has a lot of conference people, but it's no problem. The interieur is modern but nothing exciting. Breakfast is the most negativ point. Not close a four star quality and the supervisers at the breakfast entrance aren't very helpful. If the weather is good, there's more space outside for breakfast, which makes the situation a little better. The staff at the reception is just perfect.

Just back from a week in Madeira. After the airport the hotel was what we based our first impressions on and we weren't disappointed with anything that whole week after. The hotel was quiet and was just what was needed for a couple wanting to relax and get away from lifes stresses. The room was immaculate and kept clean to very high standards, the staff were extremely friendly, the food execelent and the pool area impressive. We can't wait to return next year.

An architecturally stunning hotel with two fabulous infinity pools. Though a little tired in places, the staff make up for the few shortcomings. The dining room staff especially are first rate and should be commended. The pool boys too are always eager to help. Breakfast buffet most impressive though they seem to have trouble keeping the hot food warm sometimes. A few good restaurants locally which relieves the boredom of hotel themed buffets. What a pity this hotel does not have a good a la carte restaurant.

Booked to stay at this hotel after researching on the internet and their website is fantastic and looked right up our street...modern, contemporary, good facilities etc however when we arrived and looked around we have to admit to being slightly disappointed. Although the reception area and communal facilities were very modern and stylish they were very much lacking in atmosphere with few, if any people actually making use of these area's including the hotel bar which was only open certain times of the day. Room was very simple yet modern and adequate however for such a modern hotel the bathroom I have to say was very dated and disappointing. Personally I'd be more inclined to rate this as a 4 star not a 5 star.
