Have just returned from a weeks stay in this charming old world hotel. From the minute we arrived we were looked after by the great staff. A special mention for Paola on reception, our first point of contact, she made sure all was well with our room and gave us a great deal of help and advice on where to go and where to eat.
The hotel is situated in wonderful gardens and the buildings all contain antique furnishings with several lounges scattered throughout the buildings. The pool area has fantastic views over Funchal and has a patio area for drinks and snacks. Breakfast is a buffet feast which sets one up for the day. We ate once in the restaurant, the original manor house, and what a setting for dining. Words fail to describe the wonderful dining room. If you want peace and quiet for your holiday look no further than this outstanding Quinta. We will return.

Lovely people work here! The hotel is well situated up above the centre with splendid views. Beautiful big garden, exotic flowers, good breakfast, fantastic waiters, tasteful dinner and snacks in the garden, cool pool. Trim your legs by walking the steep hills back to the hotel. Absolutely recommendable! I am going back one day - there is no doubt about it.

Room Tip: Buy one with balcony with a view of the Atlantic and the centre of Funchal.

Old established Hotel away from the centre in a quiet residential area. The breakfast is more than adequate and the friendly staff are on hand to assist with anything. The evening meal although on the expensive side was delicious and we ate in the supurb setting in the 'Old House' on three evenings.
There is a courtesy bus that runs to the Marina until 17-30 but there is a regular bus service within a short walk close to a large supermarket and other local shops.
All in all a highly recommended hotel.

Had a week here end of April. The hotel has quite a "colonial" feel to it and is reminiscent of a bygone era - complete with antique furniture and interesting collectibles. The staff were very helpful and the service was superb. All the staff were very attentive and the quality of food and drink were first class. The restaurant is superb and offers both a' la carte and table de hote dining in a wonderful setting. The rooms were very comfortable and of a very high standard.
we will definitely be back

Had two weeks at The Bela Vista and can thoroughly recommend this hotel . One of the best things about it was the high quality of the food . We were there on a half board basis ; a set menu of 5 courses served in a pleasing setting . The food was of a very high standard imaginatively served . Much nicer than the buffet style of hotel that seems to abound these days. The food at the pool bar was of an equally pleasing standard ....albeit more informal . The staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English . We hired a car to see the most of this beautiful island, although the courtesy bus down to the harbour area was also useful .
We had a late flight home and were able to keep our room all day ......a very nice end to a lovely holiday.

Room Tip: We enjoyed our room with balcony in the main block, it was nice to hear the gentle fountain and bird song .
