Average hotel. Big rooms, balcony with nice view if you choose room with sea view. Bathtub. Free wi-fi in the lobby and by the pool. Restaurant and pool bar. Close to small shops and restaurants. Shopping mall Forum very close. 30-minute walk to Funchal city. Average breakfast buffé. No pancakes. Pool towels in the room. Change them by the pool.

Room Tip: Choose a room with seaview.

We have been many times on holiday to Madeira but never to this hotel before. We were wanting flight only this time as we had planned to stay with friends whilst looking to buy a villa in Madeira.

We looked at Thos Cook and were amazed to find that we could get a holiday at this hotel cheaper than going flight only.

The hotel was very nice, lovely room .and as we were on a corner we had both mountain and sea views. The staff were very nice and nothing was too much trouble for them.

The only downside was the food. As it was such a good deal on breakfast we decided to pay a little more and up grade to half board. The food was really awful, both at breakfast and evening meal but for the price we had paid we couldn't really complain although I did remark to the manager that this had put us off returning to this hotel in case this was the standard of food served to full paying customers too. I have to say that most people at the hotel that week were moaning about the food but like us agreed that for the price they couldn't grumble.

If you do go to this hotel on a cheap deal, by all means go bed and breakfast, but don't go half board and be warned that the breakfast is the same every day and not at all nice. I'm afraid that we wont be returning here.

Room Tip: Our room was 101 ha ha ha. Must say that it had a nice corner sea and mountain view and was very s...

What a wonderful introduction to Funchal! Booked a room with kitchenette (we like our tea and coffee) but not that many are available. In steps Ricardo Nascimento (Director Manager) and voila we are upgraded to a suite, 010, with a welcome bottle of wine, a basket of fruit, tea and coffee, etc. Slept like babies on king-size bed (2 sisters) and Mr. Nascimento got our safe working and even the curling iron........all with a smile. One day we rushed out and left the safe open with valuables and everything was intact on our return! The staff has been there for 20 years and very trustworthy. Maria Bazilio kept our room clean and safe, loved her pretty shoes and lovely smile! The hot and cold breakfast buffet met every expectation, requested and got gluten free bread daily. Located in the Lido area with souvenir shops, shopping mall, restaurants, tour companies, etc. close by, so are buses, and taxis are everywhere. Boutique Lido, a little cafe with freshly baked goodies, is steps away, open from 6 a.m. to midnight. Wi-fi hot spots are located in the reception area, and hopefully in-room soon! We met a lot of repeat guests, which says volumes about the property and service. They sure loved the pool and deck! Would definitely like to return and recommend the suites, they have a dedicated elevator so no waiting around.

Room Tip: The higher rooms come with excellent views, but the suites are the best and all with balconies. Alth...

Good location (very convenient for the Boutique Lido, an excellent cake shop!), reasonable rooms (though the view from rooms without a sea view leaves something to be desired and the sea view supplement is ridiculous!) and reasonable value. Breakfast plentiful but basic (and avoid the coffee and "juice") and the bar is far too small (and didn't open until after sunset). But a perfectly fine resort hotel.

On arrival our initial thoughts of the hotel were very good. Everywhere looked lovely and we had a lovely sea-view room. The staff were all friendly. Then came the meals. We were on half board and the evening meal left a lot to be desired with only a choice of one fish and one meat course. The salad did not offer a great deal either. Consequently we ate out some evenings as there were numerous restaurants nearby offering very good value for money. Now the bar. Unfortunately the weather was not good enough to sit outside and the bar inside had only four tables seating eleven people in total. Entertainment was three nights a week and this consisted of the same duo each night. I definitely would not rate this a 4* hotel and would advise anyone staying there to just stay bed and breakfast.

Room Tip: Sea-view rooms have sun all day.

Stayed here in nov 13, nice place, friendly staff, lovely clean room serviced everyday although no tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast was ok, fairly standard I'd say, beds were a bit hard but overall it lovely. Nice pool area and I felt it was good value and would definitely consider staying again

Stayed on a full board basis with drinks with meals. Lovely room smart and very clean, beautiful view over the sea. Serviced every day. Excellent. The food was delicious, fresh and plentiful. Breakfast could have been my downfall, continental and cooked, the freshly baked bread to die for, and try the prepared musselli - so creamy. Other meals, not a fantastic selection but always well prepared, sometimes different to what we are used to but eh we are in Madeira it was very good. Fish, meat, salads, soup - lunch (missed a couple) and evening meals - could have had 4 courses three times a day!! Various sweet cakes and fresh fruit salad for afters - plenty going back for seconds. It's all buffet style so it's eat what you want as much (or little) as you want. Not far from Funchal and a useful walkway in the other direction to Camara de Lobos. Getting around on the local buses is easy and cheap once mastered. We had other trips included so managed to see a lot of the sights and attractions in our weeks stay. Fantastic place very friendly people, we will definitely be going again, maybe for longer than a week, and taking our walking boots next time.

Room Tip: We followed t/a's advice and asked for a quiet room with sea view - got fabulous sea view on the...
