“everything we expected and more”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2013

This hotel lived up to its reputation. We were very lucky to be upgraded to a Junior suite with huge panoramic balcony, lounge area and jacuzzi bath. the room was so comfortable and kept clean daily. Our only niggles were the antique hairdryer (ladies bring your own) and the shower which was not thermastically controlled and at busy times (early morning and before dinner) would vary within seconds from comfortable, to freezing to scalding hot. The food was good and plentiful, we tried the Italian restaurent and that was excellent. There was plenty of sunbeds and little evidence of 'reserving', but there is a lack of unbrellas. There was a comment of this forum recently about the pool area being dirty - this is nonense. The waiters are walking round all day collecting empty glasses and crockery and the whole area is hosed down every evening. The outside area of the sports bar and snack bar is hosed every morning. The wi-fi is expensive - 88 euros per week, which is far too much. there are two free computers in reception and you can print boarding cards etc. from there. Do go into Funchal - it is a beautiful city, a visit to the indoor market is a must, so colourful. We would definitely return here again. We have never stayed at a hotel where there is so many staff and all so friendly.

Room Tip: Room 923 - junior suite has huge balcony with panoramic view of sea and hotel

I had to come on here (even though I holidayed here in Oct12) to write a good review for this hotel, because the night before I went on holiday my boyfriend decided to read out to me a horrible review that someone had posted on here, which I had the complete opposite experiences of!

The hotel and the staff were amazing! The views are superb, and the location of the hotel is perfect, there are great views from all angles of the hotel whether you are looking down onto the pool area or had a side view of the ocean like we did. The hotel is walking distance to some local shops including many banks, estate agents, shoe shops, restaurants and a mall if you fancy a walk about. Banif Bank does exchange sterling, we went there twice (just make sure you have your driving licence on you, they charge commission which isn't horrendous and the rate itself it also v gd).

The food that is served is a buffet on the first floor restaurant, this was always warm and v yummy. There was always chips available, and a salad bar and plenty of bread, and hot foods such as pasta and local fish dishes - be careful though as they do contain a lot of garlic which I'm not used to (but we found this with everywhere in Maderia). There was always plenty of red and white wine available as well as beer/lager on tap. The desserts are particularly amazing - make sure you save some room for them!!
The bar downstairs by the pool also provides some hot nibbles for you to enjoy by the poolside (or by the big tvs if you want to watch sports inside instead), such as breaded fish and potato wedge type bites, plus the joys of being all inclusive means that you can drink as much as you like, but plenty of soft drinks were available as well as on the opposite side of the bar which had a tea station (not sure if there was coffee, sorry not a coffee drinker myself) and a wide selection of local style cakes which were delightful!!

The hotel itself has three restaurants which you can also dine in if you don't want to have dinner in the main restaurant (you do have to book beforehand at the desk near the reception). There is Japanese (which I knew my dad would not be interested in trying), Portugese (we couldn't get a table here as I didn't realise that it wasn't open every day) and Italian. We booked for dinner one night at the Italian and it was sublime!! The service was quick, and basically the starters are a buffet of olives, breads, dips, chargrilled vegetables etc.
Then you pick which main you would like from the menu (pizza or pasta), my pizza was amazing and very large but it did have a bit too much cheese on it for my liking. Then for desserts you can go up and choose what you would like from selection. I was stuffed!!

The piano bar on the opposite end of the reception area is a lovely place to sit and relax before or after dinner. I did try to work my way through the cocktail list (not in one night mind!!) whilst my dad stuck to his same whiskey/brandy. Some drinks do cost extra but it was only about three but I think you will be spolit for choice. The bar staff are always v polite and the service is v good and they're good are remembering your face too!!

The staff were always very pleased to help with any questions and we booked a couple of excursions with the hotel, they were always prompt pickups/drop offs and the hotel also provides lunch for you to take if you are all inclusive and they also take into consideration if you have a special diet (we don't eat beef).

You have to check out the spa!!
It's hardly mentioned anywhere, but this is an amazing hidden gem!!!
For 8euros for two hours you can have full use of the wet facilities. This means the jacuzzis and the salt pool. This area of the hotel is soo beautiful, and when I was in there I was pretty much by myself the whole time. There are two large jacuzzis and the salt pool is at the bottom of the wet area and there is also a shower too.

You'll come back from your holiday feeling more relaxed and a couple of pounds heavier!!
I would most certainly book here again, hopefully when the carnival is on.

Room Tip: I would probably pick a room on quite a high floor up (we were on the 8th which was perfect) purely...

Stayed at the Enotel lido for 11 nights on all inclusive board and could not fault the food at all, but the dining room left a bit to be desired, no atmosphere, it had nothing about it just tables to sit at full stop.., which was a surprise when we had seen the rest of the fabulous décor of the hotel.
Umbrellas were in short supply and very tatty, nice pool, bar and restaurant outside.
The evening entertainment was very good for a hotel, and as there was no where else to go at night it was appreciated.
Walked into Funchal a couple of times, also went in a taxi which was 4euros.
The food, all inclusive basis, entertainment, décor was far superior than the Casino park , but the proximity to the town and the ships almost on your plate at the casino were something else.

Excellent Hotel. All facilities were first class. Cleanliness of whole facility beyond reproach. Staff were very helpful but inobtrusive and all spoke excellent English. Quality and choices of food were fantastic. Plenty of sunbeds. Good entertainment. We would definitely go back.

Room Tip: All rooms nice but overlooking the swimming pool is the best choice.

just returned from a week at this hotel, and we were not dissapointed. The hotel had a very modern decor, and we had the all inclusive package which was fantastic value. In the evening there was piano music in the bar and later we were provided with an enrtainment show each evening. The food had an excellent choice and we also used the option of dining in the a la carte restaraunts. We used this facility and it was a great experience and made a pleasant change. The position of the hotel is lovely and there is a pleasant walk along the promenade.I would definatly recomend this hotel to friends.I have to say i do agree with another comment made , about the table cloths being too long..but it should not deter you from booking a trip to this lovely island and hotel.

I'm the regular guest in this hotel for a years. Former Tivolli Ocean Park is now refreshed and reconstructed, all inclusive, Enotel Lido. Positon of the hotel is good, on the beautiful lido, just above one (rocky) beach, 10-15 minutes walk to the downtown, nearby Madeira Forum shopping center. Rooms are spacy and nice, not the best that i've seen but enaugh for me to be fully satisfied. If you take suit you'll have huge balcony with great ocean view. Hotel is very clean and tidy, with nice public space, open and closed pool, bars, spa, gym, all you ever need. Food is great, everyone will find something to eat. Staff is great and kind. Wi-Fi is not free, it's around 90€ for seven days, and thats the only thing that should be impoved. All in all, worm recomendation.

From the moment we arrived, to the minute we left, the staff were amazing. Excellent English spoken everywhere, always attentive and helpful. Special thanks to Roberto in the bar, never flustered and always remembered who was next to serve on the rare occasions you had to wait and Ana in the breakfast area always started the day making you smile. Loved the atmosphere in the hotel, especially the 5th Floor Oceano Lounge which was a very restful area.

Rooms spotless. Free soft drinks and water everyday in the fridge. Huge white fluffy robes in the bathroom. All public areas clean and tidy.

Food was delicious, especially the show cooking. The staff again were more than helpful. There was one dessert that was possibly the best I've had anywhere "Suger Cane and Honey Brandy Bavarois", on asking, the Chef provided us with the recipe in English and was genuinely pleased that we liked it so much.

Thoroughly recommend this hotel to all couples. There are facilities and playrooms for children, but from the guests that were there during our 14 days they would probably be quite lonely.

The management of the hotel obviously take a pride in their product and are constantly monitoring the public spaces.

Brilliant hotel
