“Lovely holiday in a lovely hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013 via mobile

Just come back from a lovely weeks stay at this hotel. Yes it is a very large modern hotel but it still has a very friendly atmosphere and very friendly staff. We had a great room with a fabulous sea view . Nice big balcony to enjoy a drink or a early morning cup of tea. You do need to bring your own kettle etc as there are no in room facilities. Rooms do have a fridge however which is replenished with bottled water and cans of pop every day.
Food was absolutely fabulous, waistbands on our trousers were getting a tad tight by the last day !! Can recommend all the fish dishes, veggies, and the meat dishes. In fact everything we had was top notch. The deserts are yummy with cakes galore and a really good variety. As a cake lover I was extremely happy to taste ...well nearly every cake to be exact !! We always enjoyed our all inclusive meals with a good selection of drinks...especially the Mojitos !!!!
Entertainment every night was ok ... A little bit old fashioned sometimes but they do have to cater for all tastes and ages. We found it was a mixture of ages, couples and families, of all different ages. Everyone enjoying themselves. We never spoke to anyone that had any complaints about anything.
We certainly had value for money and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. One thing I should say though....Madeira is very hilly and does have lots of banks and cobbles. Tests your legs out but probably helps with the weight gain after all those lovely cakes !!!

My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful 2 week holiday at this hotel. ALL the staff have been excellent, they were always cheerful and willing to help you and they all seemed to speak at least 3 languages. I need to give extra Praise to the Pool staff who constantly came round with trays of drinks to refresh everyone. Our room was on the 7th floor and overlooked the pool and sea - beautiful. The fridge was always stocked with water and soft drinks and the cleaning staff kept room spotless. The only thing I would ask hotel to change are the sun loungers, around the pool , as some of them were not very safe. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to my family and friends. Thank you Enotel for making our holiday relaxing and enjoyable. Pat & David (Scotland)

Room Tip: If you have small children a room that does not overlook the pool area (when there is entertainment...

Stayed at Enotel Lido Madeira from 20th July for a week. Wish it had been longer. The hotel staff (everyone) were so happy friendly and helpful. The hotel was really nice and kept spotless. First time for an all exclusive and we could not believe the value. The food was excellent and the waiting staff were efficient. Lovely to have drinks supplied whilst relaxing by the pool. In fact anything you wanted you could have. We booked for 2 "special meals" the Italian - a five course meal - and the maderia meal. Both included in the all inclusive and they were superb. Madeira is beautiful. Lovely scenery. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: We had rooms on the 8th floor 812 and 814 ( not overlooking the pool) and thought they were very goo...

My wife and I spent a week at the Enotel Lido from the 15th - 22nd July and thought it was superb. The hotel itself was stunning. It was kept clean at all times - both inside and out. The room we had looked over the pool area and bay, which was beautiful.
The pool area was never too busy - we could always find a sunbed. There were a number of kids and young people at the hotel, but they were always well behaved and it was not too noisy.
The food is where we worried a little before our trip. As it was all inclusive, and due to some of the reviews given previously, we weren't sure what to expect, but we were very pleasantly surprised. The buffet restaurant had an excellent selection of food at all meal times, with some show cooking preparing something in front of you if you wanted. There were also another three restaurants within the complex, which we visited once each during our week. The Madeiran restaurant was tasty and it was good to try some local delicacies. The Italian restaurant was also very good, where some of the meal was selected from a menu, with antipasti and dessert being buffet style. The Japanese restaurant was excellent. The food was prepared in front of you and it gave us a chance to try out some things we had not tasted before. The only thing that would have been good here was for a member of staff to explain what you were eating at each course.
Drinks were constantly available throughout the day, not only local brands but international ones too. It was great to be lying on your sunbed and being offered a cooling drink (something we could get used to far too easily!!!)
Overall, we had a wonderful week in the hotel on a beautiful island. The only downside was that a week was too short!!!! We will almost certainly be back - perhaps bringing our families with us to experience the Enotel Lido again. Thank you so much! :-)

Room Tip: We were glad to have a room looking into the pool area, as some rooms had a car park view from the b...

This was the best all inclusive holiday we have been on,and we have been all over Europe on all inclusive. From when we arrived at the hotel we were looked after by all the staff from the reception staff to the waiters to the room cleaners. They were always happy polite and could not do enough for us.
The hotel was first class. Our bedrooms were large, spacious and well set out with a good view from the balcony of the swimming pool and the ocean.
Because the hotel is built on the side of a hill it was a bit strange to have to go to the sixth floor to get to reception and then a lift to the second floor for the restaurant and down to the first floor for the swimming pool. But you get used to it after a couple of days.
The food in the restaurant were varied and to a high order and the Italian/Japanese/Madeiran restaurants were as good.On the night we went into the Italian restaurant they had found out that it was our wedding anniversary and they came round with a bottle of champagne.A great thank you for that.
The drinks were good and normally on all inclusive you get the local spirits but with Enotel you got named brands including Gordans Gin,Johnny Walker Whiskey and many others. Also it was a first that you are sitting around the pool and the waiters fetch out trays of drinks for you to have without you ordering anything
The pool was quite small, but adequate for what was needed after sitting in the sun for hours. The only bad thing was the fact that people were going down to the pool at around seven in the morning to put towels on the sunbeds with umbrellas and sometimes not coming back until lunchtime.More umbrellas please
The hotel was in a good position and only a 10 minutes bus ride from Funchal and Madeira itself was lovely and everybody we met was very pleasant and helpful.
Overall,we would recommend Madeira and the Enotel and if ever we go back to Madeira we would stay at the Enotel

We have just returned from a week long stay at Enotel. We both loved the hotel and location. Entertainment was just enough, not over the top. Our room on the 9th floor was very quiet and cleaned daily, the fridge was kept topped up, very nice touch. The food on the whole was very good but I was disappointed with the Italian restaurant, we were seated next to the wall, no outlook at all and the waiter failed to give us a menu, my husband had to go searching. The food was bland. But this is a minor complaint, everything else was excellent. The indoor pool was great but do take a swim hat and guard those towel cards as you will be charged for loss.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful and on occasion a too busy to offer the service they would like. I would recommend a stay here to all friends and family.
