Very obliging and helpful staff, location cannot be beaten. The best and easiest route into town is to take the side exit from hotel, located on Level 1,across from pool access bridge. 5mins walk into town, 10mins back due to incline on return trip. However there are numerous bars and restaurants close by. Poolside has plenty of loungers, the pool is clean and great to cool off in.You can also get drinks, lunch, snacks, etc from the poolside bar .The rooms are adequate, perfectly functional, all seem to be ocean facing with balcony, serviced every day. Tip, currently the hotel has a promotion of 3 dinners for 60euros. Even if this does not appeal the Tuesday and Saturday evening meals are top value, one a barbecue, other international buffet . These are very popular, book at reception. They are held in the Yacht Bar .This bar also serves half price drinks between 6.00 and 7.00 in the evening as does the Foyer Bar between 10.00 and 11.00., not that prices are unreasonable anyhow. There are many trips/sights to partake in, do not miss the Cable Car to Monte, absolutely stunning views. The Botanical Gardens are exquisite. The Regency Club at around £65 per night is good value, true it is not 5*, but it does not pretend to be Reids. We had an early evening flight back and gave us our room for a late checkout at no extra cost

Our first room in hotel was a lot smaller than expected. Reception staff offered another room - 101 - which had 2 bathrooms and a huge sunny patio - best feature of accommodation. Carpets were tatty, kitchen was tatty - cupboards peeling with a mish mash of old cutlery. Mattresses had honestly seen better days. Room staff were absolutely fantastic - friendly and efficient. Can hardly believe how this hotel got a 4 star grading? Expected so much more - and no I would definitely not recommend this hotel - even though the location was really first class. 5 min walk into Funchal and surrounded by very good restaurants. Lovely pool with sea water. The gym consisted of an excercise bicycle! Pity, it could have been really quite lovely.

Super location, such an easy walk into the centre of Funchal, along the ocean front. The apartment complex has a sea water pool with direct access to the sea. The kitchen in the apartment had a full oven and a hob, elect kettle, toaster and microwave. The views from the balcony were second to none - direct to the sea. The complex was fully booked this week which led to a good holiday atmosphere. There was a mini market on site which is really helpful. Parking was also available. The apartment was spacious, clean and the 24 hour reception staff could not do enough for us. My family loved it, and we will be visiting again later in the year, maybe September to sample the wine festival!

Room Tip: Ask Reception for a move if you are not happy.

Rather dated decor, but everything worked OK, great shower, comfy bed, heating & aircon, adequate cooking facilities. Reception staff all friendly & helpful, but seem to be using very inefficient, old fashioned systems. Pool was cold, but greatest problem was that at 6pm all the mattresses are taken off the sunbeds because the pool closes at 6! Even worse if you have paid your 2.5 euros for a sun shade, that is also whipped away! As the clocks went forward whilst we were there we were expecting to make the most of our extra hour in the sun- no chance. Perhaps pol attendants hours could be changed to 10 or 10.30 to 7 or 7.30 as we never saw anyone in the pool area before about 10.45 from our balcony overlooking pool. Breakfasts are adequate, but for hot read tepid as there is only one small burner keeping a lot of food tepid- shame, an extra couple of burners would be a great investment in keeping hot food hot. Fried & poached eggs could be requested if you don't like your scrambled eggs warm & runny, but there is sometimes quite a wait for these. Def not 4*, would say 2 at most.
Has some great restaurants nearby, all good.

Room Tip: walk to taxi rank, dont order cab from hotel

Set close to the harbour this hotel is excellently situated mid-way between town centre and lido area (about 10 minutes walk to each). The rooms are clean and comforable and are 4* standard. The vast majority have sea and harbour views. Although there is a road in front of the hotel traffic noise is not a problem and the road ios very quiet at niight. There is a small (but expensive) shop on site but a better supermarket 2/3 minutes walk away. Plenty of excellent eateries and bars within 2 or 3 minutes walk of the hotel. The only negative is that the hotel is situated halfway up a fairly steep hill which is not the best for anyone with walking difficulties.

Maybe because I'm Portuguese, this stay was not so well as he ran to the other guests who have written their opinions here.

We reached the hotel around 9:30 (pm), with notice that we would come in this hour. The receptionist told us we had to make the bed for the 3rd person (elderly) because they had nobody available who could help us. When asked to help carry the luggage (as I was with my grandparents and we had lots of bags and sacks) the same lady said there was no stand nor anyone who could help us.

As a professional in the field of Tourism, I wondered to myself if she could help me because it was more a receptionist with her and they didn't have so much work. She have not volunteered and we had to move three times room-lobby to pick up the luggage.

To justify this option to not be helpful the recepcionst alerted us to the fact that we are in a 4-star hotel.I do not think that's a possible justification because when we want to provide a good service, no matter the category of hotel. Perhaps, with this lady in front-offe, the hotel will never ascend to a 5 star hotel

When we arrived we noticed that the room had only two high chairs next to a balcony for dining. If the apartment is for 4 people, where will the other two people dine? Maybe in bed, that's what I did.

I think it would also be important to the "gym" to be in operation and with better conditions since today's health and welfare is one of the most important factors.

The location of the hotel is very good, with a great view of the pool and sea.

Just one advice: Do not let the service become "just the necessary" because today, the tourists are looking for, not only the necessary but also something that surprise them.Being a 4-star hotel it's not a reason for don't do that, in fact I know big names of 4 star hotels, with equivalent services to luxury hotel.

We were delighted to be upgraded to a quiet room in the annexe. The microwave, mentioned as standard, was not in the room. the front desk tried to tell me that as I had been upgraded I was not really entitled to complain and as the hotel was full there was not therefore a spare! Untrue on both counts. I stood my ground and the microwave duly appeared. Pool 17degrees and unheated. 3 staff members said that that was as it should be(but not how it is advertised) Breakfast plentiful but get there early if you want a hot english as it is cooked and kept warm for 2 hours . All facilities spotless and sheets and towels changed almost daily daily. a good location , as not in Hotel zone as such , so trips to town are easily walkable with only a short hill Cheaper to have breakfast included in rate as a charge of 9 euros for it otherwise. Sauna 6 euros and notice required to heat the sauna up. We felt we had a good deal on the whole but were most disappointed in the water temperature.
