After some years holydays at this lsand we found this Hotel with
an idial location, within walking distance to town, the cruise port and theatres and main attractions. The hotel with safest Ocean Access on the Island. First and formost, we have never
met such friendly, serviceminded and charming employees.

Room Tip: Rooms on the southside are quieter

I did a little research and a lot of looking at where exactly each of the many hotels on Madeira are placed, through Google maps and street view, and was very relieved indeed to find that the hotel I chose - the Madeira Regency Club - was everything I had hoped/expected! It is not one of the overly large and ugly ones that Madeira, sadly, abounds with, but, instead, is a modest size and reasonable to look at, with a solid, ship-like theme going on inside, with the design of the stairs and landings. We booked a 'junior suite' with a balcony and a sea view, and we were not disappointed. It was lovely. We could listen to the sound of the sea all night and enjoyed sitting on the balcony, with its wonderful view. We were able to walk out to find a different restaurant every evening, with many restaurants in the immediate vicinity and with the walk into town not particularly onerous. (The continual flow of buses is available and extremely efficient, if wanted.) With the steep and rocky terrain that Madeira is, development has necessitated much terracing and compromise, and an hotel with a beach is not something that is possible there. However, this hotel's pool area is down as near to the sea as can be reasonably expected, and its land does go down to the water's edge and enables swimming in the sea, if wanted. The fact that its nearest neighbour is the Savoy, which was built before this one and, presumably, was able to choose its position carefully, says it all - there is little to chose between the Savoy and this hotel as to positioning or outlook. Breakfast is served here in the poolside café/restaurant. It is good, if unvarying, with plenty to chose from. I must say, we were not temped to eat there in the evenings, as the food advertised in pictures displayed there seemed to consist of fish and chips or chicken and chips and suchlike. Much, much better was the family-run restaurant behind the hotel - just up outside the back gate!! We spent 10 wonderful days on Madeira, based in a clean, comfortable, convenient and pleasant hotel.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the sea will inevitably have a little road noise, but the road in front of this hot...

The Regency club is ideally placed, 15 mins walk from the centre of town with a view over the sea and harbour. The staff are friendly, mostly very long service. The rooms are a little tired, but very comfortable and very good value. ( about a quarter of the price of the smarter rooms at the Savoy next door). If you don't mind urns mart, this is the place to go. Everything else is excellent.

Room Tip: Either a pool room, or a higher floor in the main building.

Back once again for our November in the sun,and what sun beautiful weather in our favourite place. This year,a small problem with being in our normal apartment in the pool area, the bridge from the main building to the pool complex was being refurbished, requiring a short walk across a fairly quiet road, but not really a problem for us but it may have put some of the main building residents off a little.
All the staff once again,SUPERB,a big thank you.

An excellent hotel / club.

Good salty pool.
Clean.
Good coffee, good house wine, good restaurant
Excellent apartment rooms.

Our only niggle was that we were booked into a specific eight floor room but when we arrived they put us in an excellent room at bridge level. - but with less view and no security with windows open.
I can only presume that money had trumped us as we were there via Dial an Exchange. However they tried their best and gave us an alternate eight floor room part way during the week.

Room Tip: All are sea facing as far as I could see. The higher the better.

The position, Hotel ,and staff are all first class. The Hotel is close enough to be able to walk into the Town to enjoy all that goes on there and to see the sights.
There are many restaurants around the Hotel if you wish to sample other places, although the Hotel food itself is very good .
The rooms are comfortable and with good maid service.
The only problem when we were there was that the bridge connecting the two halves of the hotel was being repaired so there was an awkward walk down the road. However this should be finished in the near future

Room Tip: Pool side rooms are quieter

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms were spacious, clean and the kitchenette was well equipped. The bedroom had an en suite, as well as a nice bathroom with shower and bath. All staff were pleasant and helpful. Please be aware that you will be expected to pay extra if you require a safe,or if you require a small sun umbrella (2.50 euros per day),and these are in short supply. Also the nice swimming pool is spoilt by the resin bonded gravel that covers the whole sunbathing area around the pool,so sandals are a must whenever you leave your sun bed.Whose stupid idea was that?

Room Tip: Room 306.Nice sea view, spacious.
