Having read all the trip advisor reviews before we went, I still had an open mind and wasn't convinced it would be as good as everyone said... How wrong I was!
Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, food was fabulous - especially the A la Carte evenings.
We were upgraded to a Premiere room as they were full - what an amazing room.
The ambience of the place was superb, relaxing, quiet, but with low-key entertainment in the evening. They have the balance just right.
The pool area was spotless, very well managed. So much so that we often stayed put, for the whole day!!
Very impressed all round - even my keys (which I'd left in the safe) were posted to the UK within days. A big thank you for everything.

The hotel Madeira Regency Cliff is interesting because it is located on the ocean. The magnificent view from the terrace room. The room on the 5th floor is clean and comfortable, good breakfast, free high-speed works Wi-Fi. A modest pool, but the hotel offers free swimming pools in the complex on the beach. Staff courteous and highly professional. All my requests were taken into account when booking Reservations Supervisor Dalida Capelo. It is a huge thank you.The hotel is not in the city, but to organize the free transfer of Funchal. If you drive from the airport to Aerobus - it's 25 minutes up the steep slopes of Madeira. Aerobus stop number 16 opposite the hotel. An excellent hotel, in which there is a desire to return.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less A/C unit noise

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing your opinion with Trip Advisor readers. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your holiday at Madeira Regency Cliff.

We would like to clarify that the hotel offers one outside swimming pool and one inside swimming pool. From the hotel it is possible to have access to the public swimming pools “Ponta Gorda”, however, guests have to pay the entrance which costs 5€ per day, per person.

We sincerely hope to see you back in a very near future,

Kind Regards

The hotel came with high praise from fellow tripadvisor reviewers. We prefer the small hotel experience and the hotel Madeira Regency Cliff stood out a mile. So, we took the plunge and have just returned after one of the best two weeks holiday we have ever had!. We had very high expectations of the hotel, and it surpassed them all by a mile. Every positive comment that has been written in previous reviews is correct - and more. How anybody can find fault with this hotel amazes me - unless of course you are very, very picky and unreasonable!
Right from the moment you arrive you feel welcome. The reception staff were smart, courteous and extremely helpful. They were always ready to help, give advise or simply to have a chat to find out about how we were and how our visit was going. The waitresses and waiters around the pool bar and in the restaurant at breakfast and in the evening were truly outstanding in the way they conducted themselves. Again, they remembered room numbers and even drink orders!.Again, they were always willing to chat to find out how tour day had been, what you were planning to do and would offer advice. They really treated you like a guest rather than a "client". Behind the scenes, the chefs / cooks etc did an amazing job, providing some excellent food.We booked half board which included three themed buffets a week and four table service meals. The buffet nights, which can be dodgy in some hotels, were excellent with food being replaced if it had been out too long and replenished when supplies of favourites were running low, The food during the table service evenings was again excellent, as was the service which whilst informal was efficient, relaxing and friendly. There was a real feeling during meal times that the staff really wanted to do their best for you and to provide you with a relaxing environment in which to enjoy the truly outstanding views from the outdoor terrace. If you did not want to eat of the set menu (three starters, three main courses and two sweets), then you can eat from the a la carte menu - the decision was yours. We can not praise the restaurant staff highly enough for the enjoyment and quality of food they provided us with during our two week stay.
And so to our room. Always that moment or trepidation when you arrive. At this hotel, no worries. We booked a superior room with a sea view and that is what we got. A large, comfortable room with a bath and a shower, complimentary toiletries and bath robes, plenty of storage space and once we opened the curtains a view to die for. We were on the side of the hotel on the fourth floor giving a super view out to sea, along the coastline and the lido - just what the doctor ordered! The room was kept spotless during our stay. Bedding was changed every three days, but we could have had it changed more frequently if we had asked. The towels were changed every day. The cleaning staff throughout the hotel deserve a gold medal as the bedrooms, corridors and all public spaces were spotless.
One of the key features that we feel sets this hotel apart from the many we have stayed in is the staff. I will not single people out, as they all worked together to creative a superbly relaxing atmosphere. You felt as though they really took pride in their small hotel and their island. They wanted to get to know a little about you, you were not simple a client/visitor/tourist, but people that they were interested in and wanted to share their hotel and Island with you. All the staff made us feel relaxed and welcome. They could not have done more for us.
Positive comments should also go to Jet2 who we organised the holiday with and their agents in Madeira - Windsor Travel who were both superb.
If there is one hotel which truly deserves the tripadvisor 5 point rating it is The Madeira Regency Cliff Hotel in Funchal. Well done to you all and keep it up as we will certainly be returning and for once recommending you to friends and family with confidence.

Room Tip: The hotel has a side facing Funchal and another side facing out to sea. The hotel is upside down, so...

If you do not like faceless large hotels this is a real gem with a mere 59 rooms all good sized and air conditioned. It is very well run and has many little touches which allow you to relax as soon as you arrive. It is kept spotlessly clean throughout. Breakfasting on the terrace is a delight with open views across to Funchal bay and out to sea. We have had a wonderful time again. All of the staff know how to look after you and most of them have been there many years - they are all friendly polite efficient and nothing is too much trouble. Wifi this year is an added bonus. Mrs Fernandes you must not retire !

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better the views

Stayed here three times now. We love the atmosphere in the hotel, the staff are great, the facilities are nice for the price and the rooms are spacious. The breakfasts are always excellent and there are plenty of places to eat around about if you don't wish to eat in the hotel in the evening. If you want to dine in the town centre, taxis are about 8 euros and there is a bus stop 2 mins walk away. We will be back when time allows!

My husband and I have recently spent another 2 week holiday at this wonderful hotel, and yet again we were not disappointed. All of the staff were very courteous, professional and always friendly, nothing was too much trouble, and we were always greeted with a smile.
Special thanks to Edgar at the, pool, who always ensured we had clean towels and drinks.
The hotel is very clean and boasts a very high standard of cleanliness and hygiene, and all the staff and management are instrumental in ensuring that these standards are maintained.
This time we upgraded to a corner room which had 2 balconies, this room was absolutely magical, so much so we could watch the firework displays in Funchal from our balcony.

This hotel is fairly small, but this adds to the overall charm, it is located approximately 2 kilometers out of Funchal, this area is ideal for us as we enjoy the walk down into Funchal, and would return by bus (no 1 or 2) the bus stops very close to the hotel, so getting around is not a problem.

I just love this beautiful Island, and the Madeira people, they are so friendly polite and sincere and I would be happy to return to this island and this hotel year after year. Sincere thanks to everyone at the Regency Cliff - hope to return next year.

Room Tip: We like the 2nd and 3rd floors (but not the 1st floor) The pool is on the 1st floor and Recepti...

I have just come back from Madeira after a weeks holiday and it wasn't long enough. I am a single traveller and have had varied experiences with rooms. HOwever, I couldn't fault this room. I had upgraded through jet2.com to a superior sea view room and the room was spacious which is a bonus when often as a single traveller you get stuck in a poky room. This was definitely not the case. Another bonus was the quiet - it was a very peaceful hotel and I had a relaxing time. I would definitely go back.

Room Tip: upgrade if you can - there is nothing like a good seaview!
