This hotel was outstanding. It was faultless in all departments. The quality of service provided by all the staff deserves to be highlighted. The rooms all have a fantastic sea view and the outdoor dining area is very atmospheric - especially if you are enjoying a pre-dinner cocktail!

We recently returned from our second stay at the Regency Cliff and once again we had a wonderful holiday. The hotel has undergone various renovations since our last stay and they have further enhanced the facilities without losing the charm of this lovely, small hotel. The management and staff are all exceptionally friendly and go out of their way to be helpful and make you feel at home. The accommodation is clean and spacious with lovely views. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis as we like to explore local restaurants in the evening. There are many good restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel. We highly recommend the Regency Cliff and we are looking forward to another stay there next year

Could not fault this hotel what so ever. We stayed for a week in September and the weather was perfect. Lovely sea views, superb terrace where we had all our meals. It was a nice walk into Funchal, or you could catch the curtiosy bus. A truly memorable holiday, will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for 5th floor with sea view

This hotel built into the hillside really is very good with helpful friendly staff. Location is outside of Funchal but they lay on taxi's twice a day for free if you want to go in. Alternatively it's a half an hour walk.Down a path you can access the cliffside walk and if you don't eat in the hotel then there are plenty of good restaurants close by. There is terrible piped music at breakfast but this does seem to be a Madeiran tradition!

I came with my three adult daughters for a four night relaxation break and we had a perfect stay. The rooms were spacious and clean with welcome free wifi. The views were spectacular and as the weather was beautiful, we enjoyed amazing sunrises in one room and sunsets in the other.
There was a good selection at breakfast with the opportunity to eat outside on the terrace. We had one evening meal at the hotel which was fine and there are many good restaurants within walking distance.
We enjoyed the coastal walk to the city centre and found there were frequent buses to return. The hotel also run a free shuttle at set times. All of us would like to return for a holiday with our partners and I would definitely choose this hotel again. Thank you to the staff for their friendly and professional care.

Recently stayed at the Madeira Regency Cliff for a week on a bed and breakfast basis - it was our first trip to Madeira which is a beautiful island, and Funchal is a good place to holiday, which overall enhanced our experience. I think the Regency Cliff is a bit of a niche hotel for older clients; we are in our late forties and felt quite young compared with other clientelle although the time of year we visited (October) may have been something to do with that. Overall I would say the hotel is very good, not fantastic, but well-managed and for the price we paid was good value. Reception is efficient and any small niggles we had (i.e. lack of proper hairdryer in the room, cleaners cleaning our room late) were dealt with quickly - i.e. I was loaned a better hairdryer and the cleaners came at the time we requested after we asked, so I would say don't hesitate to mention if you are not happy with anything. The standard at breakfast was good, a plentiful buffet and I really liked the fact that they brought you fresh tea/coffee in proper crockery to your table; the staff were also pleasant and helpful. We booked a double superior room (via Jet2 holidays), but actually got twin beds, we did not bother to complain about this;it seems from reading other reviews that twin beds are standard in superior rooms. The room was spacious if a little dated, for example, no separate shower in the bathroom but an old-fashioned shower over the bath; but cleanliness standards in the room and throughout the hotel were generally excellent. We had a spacious balcony with a view to the East of the building overlooking the bay/sea and hotel pool. The balcony had a light so it was good to sit out in the evening and take in the wonderful views (do take mosquito repellent though as we both fell prey to insect bites). You can also pre-book beauty treatments/ massages; there is a dedicated room for this near the indoor pool, and the treatment I had was of a very high standard and reasonable value compared to UK prices. Free towel hire for the pool is also available for guests, so no need to pack large towels (wish I had known this before we went). As others have mentioned there is a very efficient free shuttle service twice daily from the hotel into Funchal which you need to pre-book, we were actually given a taxi when we did this one day. If you pay for a taxi it costs about 6-7 Euros each way into and returning from the centre of Funchal where there are abundant shops and restaurants. We don't usually keep returning to the same places abroad as we like to try out different resorts/hotels but I would seriously consider returning to the Regency Cliff in future if the chance arose; as I liked the size of the place and the generally relaxed feel. Hmmm...nice!

Room Tip: Superior Rooms have twin beds not double beds.
