Nice and relaxing free too! With great views of the marina and a pleasant cafe, we spent a couple of hours sitting here people watching.

“Truly a hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

Very well located, easy to reach by walking from the Lido area or from Fuchal centre. Beautiful gardens for free. It's compact size so you don't get overwhelmed by the size of the gardens. You can see the Funchal town and the harbour from here. Nice walking paths, water elements and especially flowers. One of the most beaufiful gardens I have been. Well worth a visit!

“Lovely gardens”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014

On the steady climb up Avenida do Infante (Cardiac hill) and just past Santa Catarina Park, are the gates to the Presidents Palace Garden (& house) which is open to the public and free, though not obvious when passing.. we found out by accident.
The gardens are small but perfectly formed with ornamental pools, many trees, fine views out to sea and the harbour.. a nice way to while away a couple of hours.

“Much improved”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2014

We go to Madeira every year and regularly visit this garden. It has been much improved and the planting is now excellent. Also the birds looked very healthy and happy. There is also a large model of a horse in the garden this year, painted blue with what looks like a painted shawl over its back. Stunning. We also went into the chapel, on your right hand side, doorway in the main building which I had never known was there. It was beautifully tiled and painted, and looked as if it had been restored fairly recently. Do visit these gardens, the view across the harbour is wonderful.

“Concerned”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2014

The gardens were impressive but the pleasure was spoilt by the sight of the caged birds, including two peacocks who had water and food but seemed dejected.
