“Relaxing and friendly”

Fabulous hotel. Spotlessly clean, great staff, smashing food, everything just right for a thoroughly relaxing holiday. We booked following a recommendation and are very pleased we did. Nothing was too much trouble and having the Thomson rep. Paula on had every day was a bonus.
We have already booked for 2 weeks next year.

Room Tip: We had a room on level 7 and it was great - overlooked the mountains and the city. It also had a lar...

Nice hotel, food was good in the restaurant but food and service in the Palmeiras Bar left a lot to be desired. Ploughmans without apple, egg or cucumber (not as advertised). Check-in is annoying, you have to wait until 1:30 and your bags stay in a pile outside the hotel. Welcome meeting isn't until the next morning, which is ridiculous. 5 reps, Paula is very professional but a little robotic, Adele and Stephen are the loud ones, Adele is warmer, Stephen is a little more fake and seems permanently drunk. The other two are just easy-going cheese. We did two excursions, Monte & Magnolias and Seaborn Catamaran. The cable car and toboggans were fantastic (toboggans not scary at all, in fact not fast enough) but the Monte Palace tour was long and boring. The bad thing is you get no time in the shop as you are hurried onto the tour. The catamaran was good, we saw whales and loads of dolphins - make sure you put lotion on your legs though as mine got very burnt on this trip. Weather overall was mad, very changeable. Humid but mostly not hot. Weather seemed to be getting better as we were leaving, so go in August, warmest month. The pool - everybody moaned about the pool. It's advertised as heated but it really isn't, it's freezing! Even the jacuzzi is a bit cold. I've seen people say there are more than enough sun loungers, there aren't. Once people realise roof lounging is better they get taken up quite quickly, around the pool as the week goes by it gets harder to get a lounger. Staff in the restaurant range from very friendly to virtual grumpy mutes. The lifts are excellent. Entertainment in the Magnolia Lounge (bottom floor) is okay but a bit cheesy, clues are given in quizzes which is annoying. Internet room next door with Sky TV, no one ever uses it, it's good. Free WiFi in hotel, password is hotel. Worked well in our room but not so well in other areas. My iPad wouldn't connect to it but my iPhone did easily. We did the wine-tasting, £13.50 each, don't bother. You get so salad with a glass of wine initially and, as I said earlier, the salad was not as asked for and was disgusting. In the actual wine and cheese tasting you get a plate of the same cheeses you had with your salad, nothing special and not explained at all. The wine tasting is three different wines, one white, one pink, one red. Descriptions are read out from a piece of paper so no real knowledge from the reps. We did the yellow tourist bus, very good, hop on and off for 48 hours for 12 euros each, saves you a lot of time and quick way of getting to the old town/cable car, Marina, Forum shopping centre (Pull & Bear is the best shop). Hole in one pub is poor service, local mini markets are quite good, lidos are quite good if you walk down the promenade, water is freezing though and there is no sand, just rocks, ramps and big deep drops. One lido quite a way down is pay to enter but has pools and lockers etc, was very popular. There is a nice little cafe, promenade cafe, which advertises coffee and cake on the board outside for €1.80 - really nice and friendly little place, good food and drink and cheap. The room - free safe, free fridge, tea and coffee when you get there. Wardrobe space is ok but limited hangers which you can't move as you'd like. TV in room has a lot of channels. Book a sea view, we had a mountain view room on floor 6 but in hindsight a sea view would've been miles better. Hair dryer in bathroom, shower nice, built-in radio! Maid service is excellent, just as you'd want. Unobtrusive but efficient. We didn't use the local bus service but they seemed regular, you can walk pretty much anywhere though within half an hour. Right out of the hotel and straight on, then either left to go to the Marina and cable car, or right to go to the lidos or Forum shopping centre. Overall, good hotel, nice holiday but I cannot stress enough what a negative impact the cold pool had on people's holidays, it was largely unused.

Hotel was great, rooms were great and a massive bed, Sea view is essential. Staff were first rate and could not be better. The walking on the Island was really good, good relaxed pace. The entertainment in the Hotel was perfect for a couples hotel, Stephen and Adele are really talented. Adele can really sing (opera night recommended) Stephen very talented singer songwriter but needs to work on his jokes(Sorry Stephen) Food in the hotel I also enjoyed but the only criticism is it could do with more traditional local choice, a bit too Anglicised, I like piri piri hot but that's just me. Lots of sun beds, no kids whoohooo! only one small down side is that local dogs are literally barking mad and a bit too noisy too early. I cant wait to return though very relaxing despite hitting the long walking tours.

Room Tip: Sea view is a must and the higher up the better

The friendly and professional staff make this hotel brilliant. every aspect of the hotel is to a high standard the rooms are of a good size and spotlessly clean. The food is restaurant standard we tried everything. There is no rush on a morning for sunbeds with lots available and plenty of outdoor seating spread out throughout the grounds. This was our first holiday without children the peace and quiet round the pool and hotel was wonderful for a relaxing holiday. But as I said earlier it is the staff of the hotel which makes this hotel special always friendly, always helpful especially Matilda who made us feel like more than just gests but friends also.

Very clean hotel. Friendly staff and people in the hotel. Great being for couples. Especially enjoyed the fact that there were always free sun chairs either on roof or by pool. There were always plenty of choices at meal times.

This is an excellent hotel, great staff, excellent rooms, (ask for a high floor ! a sea view is essential). The breakfasts were great, marvelous choice. The evening meals were even better, with each evening themed. The location is excellent-set on a hill with lovely gardens. The jacusi on the roof is an essential visit. The hotel is well worth its Four stars.

Room Tip: Sea view, on the 6th floor

Just returned from the Savoy Gardens and depressed already. Both my partner and I have demanding jobs and wanted somewhere to chill out and we couldn't have found a better place. The hotel is spotless with staff who can't do enough for you. We have read some complaints regarding the food but thought the hotel did unbelievably well in providing a good, respectable range of food for 200 plus people. The entertainment team (Stephen and Adele, with support from Domino) were extremely talented and unbelievably good in providing the right sort of entertainment for the variety of guests there. Our rep (Paula) was fantastic. She knew her stuff, very knowledgable and professional. The one thing we dislike about holidays is reps that are constantly harrassing you to go on trips. Paula was the complete opposite. The advice she gave proved to be interesting and accurates. So much so that we booked three trips with her!! The facilities are great and we spent most of our sunbating time on the roof terrace. Finally must go back to the hotel staff. Neither of us have ever been treated so well. They were genuinely interested in the places we were visiting and provided additional information and nothing was too much for them. Every single one of them was an ambassador for the hotel. It felt really personal. We will definitely being going back!!
