We enjoyed a visit to The Madeira Story Centre on a very quiet Sunday morning during our recent stay in Funchal. The centre as a whole is well presented and a good size.
The 3rd floor terrace offers great views of Funchal although it's a shame that food/drinks cannot be ordered from the cafe up there; instead there are drinks and snack machines.
Most of the museum is on the second floor where information is presented in Portuguese, English, French and German. There are various different types of exhibits including some interactive ones designed to appeal more to the children. We felt that it was just the right length - long enough to be informative without becoming tedious.
There is also a very good gift shop and café on the ground floor. You do not have to pay to go into the story centre in order to visit these facilities.
Although possibly a little expensive considering the size, we felt it was worth the visit and it certainly provided an accessible way of extending our knowledge of Madeira.
