It's difficult to fault this wonderful restaurant at which we have eaten on many occasions.
I love the fact that the starter appears and you do not know what you are going to be served, because so often I wouldn't necessarily have chosen it - and the bolo de caco is always to die for.
Espada is a speciality here and on this occasion it was cooked to a turn and served with al dente vegetables and beautiful Porto Santo potatoes. The home made apple dessert was attractive and tasty.
I like it because at the end of the day the family gather to eat and this adds to the ambiance.
Thank you for another dining delight. Please may we come back another day?

My kids loved this restaurant because of the horse ride (you can get a 30 min free ride on a carriage to get to the restaurant( and because of the space to play around the restaurant.
Besides that, the food was average, with a short menu, and the service was nice but not very professional.

We had lunch here and the owners/staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived at ~ 3 pm for a late lunch , we were the only clients, but we were very welcomed. They cooked the traditional food on the spot, the place itself is a green escape from the sun and lots of dogs and a lovely cat kept us company!

This is a lovely setting. Peaceful, relaxing garden eating area (inside also if you want). Enjoyed the food, made a great change from the hotel (Vila Baleira). As said, not a vast menu but that makes it much better because the food is fresh and home cooked to order.
I also went on two rides from here and would recommend this as well - i saw the island from a different perspective and the horses were very well trained.
Cannot praise this enough. Local and very family friendly.

We wandered from our apartment, as we do quite often, to this restaurant/bar and sat outside in the patio area, which is paved with railway sleepers and has rustic tables with canvas chairs in a cool garden atmosphere. A caneca of Coral each and some peanuts as an aperitif (while we take advantage of the free wifi to Facebook).

Earlier in the day we had booked a table and ordered our food, although you do not have to of course, and after we had finished our drinks we went inside and into the restaurant.

The restaurant is atmospheric with chairs that have horse heads carved out of them and we look out over the inside training ring with a jump in the centre. All the furniture is similarly carved and adds to the ambiance.

We enjoy some delicious soft cheese with biscuits or bolo de caco (with garlic butter) or shell fish as a starter and then our Espada (black Scabbard fish) with Banana and Passion fruit sauce, boiled Porto Santo potatoes and traditional vegetables comes, which is cooked perfectly with vegetables al dente. We accompany this with good wine from the Alentejo.

We finished with a delicious dessert of ice cream with a fruit from a tree in the garden - seems like a cross between mulberry and cherry and definitely to be recommended. The owner picked some fresh to show us.

We could have asked for transport on a horse drawn vehicle but we were too close to need this attractive offering. The service is attentive and we found the whole experience without fault and left knowing we would return.
