simple check in from a friendly member of staff, lifts to all floors, the rooms are very big and spotless with the largest double bed i have ever slept in,rooms also have a t.v, mini fridge and air con.bathrooms are large with a well powered walk in shower.
and as others have mentioned it's a 15 minute walk in to the center of lamego or you can catch a bus from right outside the hotel gates to the center and back.
the hotel restaurant has quite a good choice, fairly priced and it offers some lovely views.
and to name but a few this hotel has a gym, squash and tennis courts and a indoor and outdoor heated pool, the latter was an absolute joy to swim in considering how hot it was and made my 3 night stay even more enjoyable.

This hotel was used a a base for a tour of the Douro. The rooms were spacious and clean. There was an indoor and out door pool, gym and Jacuzzi. There were classes for Pilates etc and massages. The breakfast was buffet style, the bar served tapas and there was the main restaurant if you wanted to eat more formally. There was a balcony next to the bar to enjoy a drink. There is an underground car park which was a bonus for us on a motorcycle tour for security and keeping them dry. The hotel is about 15 mins away from the castle and what appeared to be the town square.

We loved this hotel! The staff were all super friendly and helpful. Room was clean and bright. The pools and gym were great.

Both pools were open, we choose the outdoor one and as it wasn’t busy were able to swim laps which we really enjoyed.

Breakfast buffet was delicious!

The Douro valley is hilly, we found it charming and enjoyed the walking.

We would choose this hotel again.

The facility is quite nice, modern and clean with fast WiFi. Indoor pool was closed for repairs but outdoor pool area is very good. Service at the bar was atrocious, as we waited for 1 1/4 hours for a simple tapas order only to be told they were out of one of the two, then another hour + to get the replacement order, and the food was barely average, worse of all IMHO is that the bar only has tawny port, no ruby port, and we’re in Portugal an hour away from Porto!! On the opposite end of the spectrum was breakfast, which was by far the best of any on this trip through northern Spain and Portugal; an amazing display of various pastries, fresh fruit, hams and cheeses, and every other thing you might wish for, whenever you are from. The hotel merits another visit, but there are many other places in town I would prefer for eat and drink.

We stayed here two nights whilst touring round northern Portugal & would happily return in any season...
It's a large space, very stylish minimalist hotel, rooms & public areas are spacious and relaxing. Modern & clean all the way through. Lots of parking, great pool (outside, indoor was being refurbed whilst we were there but it was 30+ degrees outside), gym, squash courts. Breakfast was good, bar food & drinks good & reasonably priced, we didn't eat dinner here so can't comment on that. Bar staff knew their wines etc.
20min down hill walk to town... uphill on the way home obviously!! Not the most scenic walk but safe enough with footpaths most of the way. Lamego itself wasn't particularly inviting to us, but the walk up the steps was well worth it for the view & architecture.
Reception staff were friendly & helpful, as were all the waiting staff, but like others our experience of service was very slow which I think was under-staffing of such a huge space by management. It didn't bother us, we were on holiday & relaxing, just don't plan a 'quick' drink!!
We would recommend & would return
