“OUTSTANDING VALUE FOR GOOD LOCATION, SECURE PARKING AND WELCOMING HOST”
Reviewed 4 July 2013 via mobile

What a welcome ! A half-bottle of 15 year old port from the family quinta, and a cake made only one hour previously by the host's good lady and with eggs from the family village. Parking is secure immediately across the road. Out comes the map and our host explains with enthusiasm that the bus stops immediately outside Lis and whisks you straight down to City Centre in 10 minutes to a kiosk at which you buy the private bus tour tickets giving you two days of scenic open top bus routes with 10 language choice of audio commentary for just €15. Excellent. Very quiet room as requested, and kept very well. Good, if simple, breakfast, with OJ, great coffee and superb breads, and delicious mountain honey. Can't have breakfast before 0730 because bread is only ready at 0730. How fresh is that ? Mine host recommends a local restaurant which was in fact very good indeed and very reasonable, another plus. We'll certainly be back to both Lis and that Restaurant.

Having read previous reviews, we were hoping for a warm welcome and an orientation to the city. The owner is the "real deal"--warm, friendly and attentive. He greeted us with a complimentary bottle of Port and maps to help us navigate the city. Good suggestions for things to see around town--and how to get there. The car park was included and just across the street. Breakfast was tasty with fresh breads, jams and other choices. One of the few places with large coffee cups!
Beds comfortable, rooms clean. The local neighborhood is busy during the daytime. Many storefront shops, including fruit/produce, local deli--even a laundromat (came in very handy after more than a week on the road). Felt so much better than a stay in a commercial hotel

The hospitality here was outstanding. Our host helped haul our bags up to our room and when we entered our room a decanter of port was waiting for us as a welcome form our hosts. The room was clean and more than adequate for our needs. Parking was included and provided in a secured garage across the street. The hotel is located within 50 meters of a bus stop. From here, the bus will take you directly to the main tourist area of the city where you can see most of the city's major sites or cross the river to visit the many port houses. There is an excellent restaurant where you can enjoy dinner, just a few minutes stroll from the B&B and there are a couple nice patisseries nearby for the sweets lovers. As a special treat on our last night there, our host informed us of a 250 voice choir and organ recital that he was performing in at a nearby church. It was a special highlight we won't forget.

Room Tip: Look for available parking and use public transportation withinn major cities if you are road trippi...

Parking and Breakfast and wi-fi included. Owner speaks multiple languages, is extremely personable and greeted us with a map and highlights of the city, as well as a generous supply of port and a comemorative tile. The room was spacious, including high ceilings but felt a bit dark.

Parking is across the street in a garage, check in first to be directed to correct entry point and you'll need a receipt to provide the garage.
Will stay here again whenever back in Porto.

We visited Lis at the end of March 2013. We chose Lis because of the good reviews and extremely competitive price.
We were very pleasantly surprised from the size of the bedroom and bathroom. The room lacks air conditioning, but the radiator kept it nice and warm throughout the night.
The neighboorhood was a bit shady for walking around around midnight but no problem at all before that.
The place is situated some 15 minutes walk from the center and there's a bus which can take you back. The owner also supplied us with free parking just across the street.
As mentioned above, the owner is very nice and made our stay both memorable and enjoyable.
The only downside is the breakfast, which consists of bread, butter, honey and a hot beverage. However, at the price they charge you for a night, it's a steal even without a breakfast.
Highly recommended!

Our son lives in Spain, and on this trip we elected to spend a few days in Portugal. We were looking for a B&B in Porto, and this one came with high marks on your sight. What a great choice. We were met by the owner, Agostinho Ribeiro, a wonderful man with a big smile. As he guided us to our room he brought a small bottle of port, with three glasses for us to enjoy after our long drive from Spain--what an unexpected treat : ). Our room on the second floor looked out to a view of the back yard---quiet and away from the street. It is an older building, but clean comfy and well maintained. Agostinho was very helpful with all the local info we needed and the Number 600 bus passed just outside of the building to take you to the town center. If you care to walk it is about 30 minutes--down hill, about 45 minutes up hill. The bus ride back is worth it! There are 10 rooms here, and there is a full breakfast to get you started on your tour of town. If we return to Porto, this will be our home away from home--great choice.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back of the building. Away from the street and quieter.
